Yeah, Miranda vs Lukaku was a good switch. Really neutralised Lukaku as an outlet for Belgium.

Coutinho was so predictable ( good passage of play for the goal) but the amounts he got the ball on the left, cuts in with his right and went for that shot. Only to be blocked by Fellaini/Witsel/Kompany.

And then he proceeded to do it again. Rinse/repeat. Also Coutinho/Neymar run into each other's positions a lot.

Firmino didn’t makes Brazil play better. He was poor.

melts, yeah that’s true. They looked knackered as well.

Firmino made them better in the second half and with the tacticall change of playing Miranda 1v1 against Lukaku.

Not making this an anti Firmino thing at all but he was poor when he came on IMO. The players that helped Brazil improve were Costa and Augusto.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What Firmino did was holding the ball up and linking the play better with the wingers than Jesus.

I think it helped that Jesus (and then Costa) were the wingers though...

He didn’t really do that. He actually gave the ball away more than Jesus did as well.

Brazil were unlucky tonight with the own goal, it allowed Belgium to play to their strength - counter attacking. If Martinez knows how to do one thing, it's coaching a counter attacking unit.

Belgium did their jobs well, however Brazil probably should have forced extra time (at least) with the chances they made.

If we win the World Cup I want us to send Nigel Farage to a Fifa meeting so he can say this

“At the start of the tournament we said it’s coming home and you all laughed at us. Well you’re not laughing now”

The country’s star footballers were turfed out of bed before breakfast, after a fire alarm was activated at 8am (local time) in their five star hotel in the centre of Samara. Meanwhile, England’s Harry Kane and his team were tucked up in their beds a few miles away, in the 196-room Renaissance in Samara, oblivious that their opponents preparations for the big match had been disrupted. Members of the Swedish team gathered in the lobby of the Lotte hotel (right) as alarm bells rang out, looking bleary-eyed and confused. Unsurprisingly, one of the players was overheard saying: 'We could do without this today.' England fan Terry Comitti, from Essex, who was in the hotel said: ‘The Swedish players looked like they had the right hump. They were not happy and that wouldn’t be a surprise when they were supposed to be getting their beauty sleep before what is probably the biggest games of their lives.’
