Rumours doing the rounds that he was awake as he was taken off the pitch, which is why the crowd were cheering
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Would the crowd have known though? I took that as respect/encouragement.

Didn't see the incident but does the heat have anything to do with him collapsing? I'm sure Dembele is Atletico collapsed a few months ago.

No, he needed CPR. He has had a cardiac arrest

Out of curiosity, i'm wondering if all players in the Euros are required to give health readings to the relevant authorities before their respective games.

Horrible to see his wife go through that...feel for her.

I’m sure that they receive medical checks regularly, unfortunately these things happen.

Hope he makes it!

I'm sure some of them would have been able to see him while he was coming off.

Lots of people are saying that it's a good sign they took him away, if he was unresponsive they'd have continued doing CPR.

I'm not a doctor or anything though, so no idea how true that is. Might just be speculation

Looked like a sudden ruptured aneurysm… horrendous.

They've had a very busy domestic schedule with not a lot of rest. Cant think of anything else that would cause that to a fit professional footballer.

Hopefully he pulls through it. The equipment and training available are designed to provide great help in incidents like this. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 he makes it. Sad and distressing to see.

Can't imagine what his family must be going through.

They will receive regualar check ups within their own team's doctors. But i was wandering if UEFA have their own set of doctors/experts who require stringent protocols too.

I'm also wondering if it's been the hectic scheduling of the past season due to the pandemic.

Really feel for Eriksen and his family and friends. Hope he pulls through.

yeah it could be that
but dont pro footy players have echocardiograms on their heart regularly?
an aneurysm would be picked up

think it's more likely ventricular fibrillation that has caused it tbh

There is very likely no correlation and of course the sport has seen cardiac arrests like that before. In almost all cases it is an undiagnosed cardiomyopathy.

i certainly think the v busy schedule and lack of rest has been a big mistake
players health has been neglected imo
