Bottom line is Defoe is not going to get another chance, he has had plenty, and always been found wanting, And Ade has frankly been a big let-down with his attitude, he is obviously causing some kind of problem within the club, as I am sure he would be featuring, if only from the bench. Soldado is rightfully our number one striker, and is playing in a winning team, so why change a winning formula. Not sure where supporters like Chicken are coming from, it seems he wants to drop Soldado just because he does not like him, and replace him with who?

"She he is a team player who can provide as well as score."

Have we signed a Thai ladyboy?

Werent you impressed with Gota Pee-Niss's performance at the weekend?

Can someone explain to sandy that if you concede the same amount as you score (in this case, none) then the team do not win.

Chronic,

I see that this guy still doesn't have a clue about football. Soldado is not an all round striker like benteke

==========================

I think that is the OP’s point. Why spend £26m on a player who is obviously not a “complete striker” yet we could have got one for a similar amount?

Anyway, I don’t want to go down the route of “We should have done this” or “should have done that” because it is not going to help matters, but anyone who is defending Soldado this season and was mocking Ade last season, clearly have inconsistent views about football.

It just seems daft to me that we have back up strikers who are more proven than our No.1 striker, yet we are still sticking with the unproven player when we are desperate for goal scorers – it just makes no sense to me. And what message is it sending out?

Its like the Joe Hart situation at City. The current keeper is making mistakes and its costing them points, yet there was a big hoo ha about replacing Hart with his fellow professional understudy. If you were the understudy you must be thinking “What is the point in all this?”. And look what has happened since he has been replaced, 2 clean sheets....

We need to think about a Plan B, and I don’t know any other club manager who would alienate top players like Defoe and Ade when it is staring them so obviously in the face.

Not sure what AVB is thinking with Soldado TBH.

You sign a goal poacher of a striker and keep playing a formation that leaves him isolated with very little service or deliveries into the box. Clueless

I feel sorry for Soldado... Hopefully AVB sees the light sooner rather than later.

I really hope Del Bosque calls him up in his next squad. Another exclusion will not help his state of mind

And if you win 3 games 1-0, with all goals coming from Soldado, then you have a little under 50 per cent of the points Spurs have gained this season all won by a striker Chicken wants out of the side.

What the feck is your problem with Soldado?

posted on 4/11/13

Soldodo looks like a poor signing to me. I can understand he has not had good service but for his price tag I struggle to see what he offers. He is not blessed with great pace, he does not have a great first touch, he does not have great vision. he does not look that good in the air, or at dribbling, or very skillful, he does not hold of the ball to bring others into play.
_____________

Neither was pippo inzaghi - but he actually had some proper service to work with.

==================

My problem is he has only scored 1 goal from open play from 10 league games (9 starts) and we have only scored 6 goals in total from open play with him spear heading our attack.

Is that enough for starters?

I have watched Soldado this season very carefully and i think his movement is actually very good, even against Everton, if you watch him throughout the game he made good runs but no one played him in, our tactics of passing the ball and keeping possession only work if the players take max 2 touches, our problem is the players are all taking 3-5 touches beofre passing the ball, this allows the opposition to get back into shape and then shut us out. We have 2 of the quickest wingers in the league that are ineffective because of the pace we are playing at. Soldado is NOT a poor striker, Linekar didn't do much else except score but he had lots of service, Soldado needs the same.

Also to call a player poor because he doesn't go out wide every 2mins is not a very good argument. Ade spent all his time away from the box, hence when the ball was played in, no one was there, we now have a box striker but have stopped crossing balls into the box.. this is an AVB error in my opinion, he should start with orthodox wingers who throughpout the game can swap wings if needed.

Anyone would think he is missing sitter after sitter with the post on this thread. First give him the service, if he still fails to score on a regular basis then fair enough, but until that happens i think it is silly to write him off. Watch him in our next game and tell me he has no movement, i'm sure you'll find he has great movement but is not getting the ball enough.

Part of me would be happier if he was missing sitters - but he doesnt seem to be getting himself into the positions to.

He never seems to take a gamble, run inbetween players, or help the creative players play a diagonal ball.

I know one thing for sure, if Ade or Defoe had the same 'goals from open play' record that Soldado has, there would be "NEW STRIKER" article after "NEW STRIKER" article.

I hope he improves, but there is no doubting he has been a flop so far.

yes he is. service from Andros "I always shoot" townsend, and aaron "I don't do much" lennon, and lewis " I am much better off the ball than on it" holtby, is woeful

Chronic, that's my point, if you watch him play, i mean even off the ball, he actually make intelligent runs, i'm suprised not many people have noticed this.

fullback. I remember when he first came over I remember the first time I saw him I thought, wow this guy is lively. he movement was exceptional compared to the strikers we had last year. we never played him in though. we never ever played him in so he probably doesn't even bother making half the runs any more anyway. instead he comes looking to feet like he did v everton.

I'll have to watch more closely as i certainly haven't witnessed these runs. Are you sure its plural?
