He stated he watned to do well in the cups.
This will be my judgement.
------
He's failed then - papped out in the 1st round of one. That's half of the cups gone. He can only salvage things if he wins the Scottish Cup. Which we won't.

The Ramsdens doesn't count. Just more diddy team games. It's no test. And if McCoist turns round and uses that as proof we are improving I'll weep.

How many points was Ally ahead before he bottled it
.......................................................................................

15 points having played 2 games more , then the off field stuff kicked in

Not sure how much the off the field stuff actually made to the playing side, IMO anyway but with your current squad? 2nd or 3rd and I wouldn't bet a penny on any of the derbies

Little out for the rest of 2013 so hopefully Clarke should get his chance at some point.

He did fail in the League cup, so yes the pressure is on.

I am including the Ramsdens as its a cup competition we should be winning and it'll be a failure if we didnt.

and my bar of measurement isnt to win the Scottish Cup, its to compete in it at the very very least.

If we get to the final and narrowly lose to a decent side, I'd say that was a good a decent crack at it and a display of improvement.

If we come up against a mid table SPL side and get played off the park like last season, I want him out.

The Ramsdens is most definately a test for a manager that has never won a cup competition in his puff

Its not proof we are improving if we wint it, but its proof he's not up to the job if we dont win it...thats the one cup competition that I decided I will accept nothing but the trophy in this season, coz there is no SPL opposition in it and losing to any other side in it with the sqaud we have would be ridiculous

The Ramsdens cup final is a huge game for Ally as a manager from the viewpoint that he will be crucified if we lose it.

He will not be a popular man if we lose in a cup final to Raith Rovers

Raith will get pumped in the Ramsden Final, the league is as good as finished.

I hope we get past Falkirk and get a SPL team so we can really test how far behind we are etc...

However I still think he should've walked after the Forfar game. We could've got Butcher like Hibs are doing now, because their manager did the decent thing and resigned.

mccoist openly and frequently states that he doesnt let the off field troubles bother the players

and why should it, not once have Rangers failed to pay the players when their supposed to

blew a 15 point lead

malmo, maribor, falkirk, qots, forfar, annan, peterhead, stirling

yet people still believe he's gonna turn into gaurdiola when we get back to spl

he has a 9 million quid playing budget in the 3rd tier of scottish fitba and even then he is making it very hard for himself

if he needs a squad of players 3 levels above the week in week out opposition then fak knows what he's gonna need to compete with spl clubs

although i do believe he stated a few days ago he needs " millions"

i wouldnt trust mccoist wi ma weans pocket money never mind a transfer budget

There is a little bit of artistic licence as to when the off-field stuff kicked in.

I also don't think it's a valid excuse - are people seriously suggesting that football players, playing a game at 90mph are actually thinking about their job? FFS most of them can barely string a sentence together, I very much doubt they can think and run at the same time.

Kaiser, first thanks for a fitba related thread

Second what you said above would be a relativley sucessesful season for the Gers IMO, get past Falkirk and draw say St Johnstone or a HIbs and see how you fare, it is still early doors for the newish Rangers squad but neither side of fans are known for our patience so we are not

There's not a lot to choose between the best of the rest in the top tier.
Celtic haven't exactly set the world alight either though.
I personally think it would be a pretty tight league, with scope for 4 or 5 teams to come out on top and Rangers right in that mix.

Celtic will be favourites by a long, long way, but the favourite doesn't always win, as they've found out on several occasions...

Brookly, fair point but I think a league with Rangers back in it would not allow Celtic to have a lapsidaical attitude like we can have in some games now, it would I hope, focus their minds and I wouldn't expect so many cheaply dropped points

That said if fitba was an exact science the bookies would stop taking bets on it

Off field isnt an excuse this season.

Ally has had two full seasons with that as an excuse.

Ths is his team, he brought in all these players, he paid the money to get them, he has had this squad avaialable from the start of September.

the only thin I am letting him away with so far this season is that dreadful result at Forfar in the League Cup.

He has no excuses now if we suffer a similar fate in any cup competition

"we struggle v dunfermlines yoof team last night FFS"

I know we struggled, but I'll say it again Nacho and will keep saying the same thing everytime you come out with the same old argument time after time after time.

Judge performances against SPL teams when they happen

Dont take performances against far inferior opposition as the ture level of the team and the level to which we will play against better sides, it just does not work that way

We play the equivelant of 36 celtic v Morton games a season

You wont comfortably win 36 games a season against teams who see it as their cup final every week

11 league wins averaging over 4 goals a game , id hate to see how you would be if we were losing games

Victor Meldrew just phoned to call you a moany bassa!

I see we are cancelling the game against Forfar next week because we have a couple of players on international duty.

That is fckin embarrassing.

I'm sure it happened earlier in the season as well didn't it? Seem to remember the big bad board getting the blame that time because they didn't want a demo at the match.

Copland, Super is imo a fair minded Bear poster

WE all have strong opinions on our teams and in most cases the truth lies somewhere inbetween what we think and another fan who thinks the opposite

At least we are chatting about fitba for a change
