Completely agree. Modric would be my preffered option. Although if rumours are to be believed we are in for sneijder.

He looked shocked to have scored.

I would prefer to use Josh and how he does rotating with Lamard before getting a new midfielder

I believe Drogba made Lampard the player he is today.
Drogba controls bad balls better than any player in the league.
Torres will not suit playing with Frank cause he cannot keep making awful passes and hope something will happen.
Time to get rid of Frank and keep Drogba.

El Nino said he felt a lot fitter having had a short rest and was looking forward to a summer off.
Liverpool ran him in to the ground for the last 2 years as they had no option but to play him half fit and injured.

Next season will tell us just what we bought but we definitely need to revamp the midfield.
I like the look of Pastore but Modric would be cheaper and proven.
Speaking of Spuds I can not believe they are even considering Joey Cole.Has 'arry been asleep the last 4 seasons and not seen how poor he's become.

Is Modric really that good?
Nice and tidy on the ball but creatively Spurs didn't exactly do well this year.

Modric has got 3 assists this season, hardly the creative mastermind our fans crave for.

the reason he only had 3 assists last season was because spuds play crouch or Pavlyuchenko up front that don't make the runs and don't have the goal scoring abilities of a player like Torres.

I do think that Modric is more than just assists and goals. he keeps the tempo of the side up and dictates play. he also played deeper in a 2 because of VDV. if he played with us in a midfield 3 I think he would contribute more.

there are many other better value players of his type tho

I'd rather Josh playing regularly than have Modric come in.

Pav and Crouch have both scored more goals than Torres this season...

I agree, let's give McEachran abchance before buying someone who would keep him out the team short and long term. He didn't win Young Player of the Season for nothing, he's looked ready in the games he's played and he's approaching the same age that Rodwel, McCarthy, Muamba, Jones, Henderson and Wilshere broke into their first teams and they all haven't looked back. I also think that if rotating with Lampard we would see a better Lampard if given more rests. If it doesn't work - buy someone in January. If it does work then we've got a young creative midfielder who will most likely stay there for 10+ years who cost nothing and has wages much less than any midfielders we've been linked with as well as being homegrown

must say BK I disagree in part. I do think Josh should play a greater role next year but I don't think he is ready to be the stick on starter. he is a couple of years away.

the difference between Josh and all the names youve mentioned is that all of them are/were much more physically advanced than Josh. Rodwell isn;t even a regular for everton, he is in and out the team. I think we just need to give him more time to develop, gradually bringing him into the team. many of the worlds top players, especially in his position didnt become first team stars until 21/22, there is no need to rush him and end up hindering his development.

I have to agree with KDL.
Even the starts Josh has had have been in a more defensive role so he has virtually nil first team experience in the position of provider.

There may be a good reason why a top manager played him deeper.

But remember against Zilina he was holding off 6ft5 Ceesay. I know we shouldn't be giving chances ilke that to all our youth players, for instance Kaukta should still be a squad player, but I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't think McEachran was ready. In all the games he's played he's impressed, and while I know he isn't ready to start every game I think rotating him with Lampard would be the best bet.

I really don't think he has impressed as much as people say. I think he will be an outstanding player but he has seemed out of his depth with england U21s and even in reserve games it sometimes passes him by. Against Newcastle he was knackered after 60 minutes.

His talent isn;t to be doubted but he needs time and I don't think he is ready. I;d actually say Kakuta is better equipped to be starting more games right now than Josh. if he starts 5-10 games next season I'll be happy.

Remember that he's very young for the U21's, the only other person who's his age is Wickham and he is indeed playing regularly for Ipswich. But in the games he will eventually play the majority of his career at, he's impressed and for me I think it deserves a bigger chance next season. And I would be happy with 15-25 starts assuming there's no major injuries in midfield, it's a big jump but he strikes me as a player who would do well. We'll never know until we take the risk

Exactly, if he is a bit young still for the u21s then the same applies to our team. I' do believe that if you're good enough then you are old enough. I just don;t think he is good enough... yet!

it's all well and good saying take a risk but we have to think about the lad himself and his future development. When he is ready he will play. His stamina is a mile off at the moment. I'd just be happy if he eventually becomes the top player we all think he will be, Whether that is now or in 4/5 years time doesn't bother me. most players of his type don;t make great impacts until their 20's.

look at players like Thiago Alcantra at Barca. undoubtedly he is going to be a star, but at 2 years older and more physically developed than Josh he is still mostly playing little cameos here and there. Xavi didnt nail down his place until he was 20. a recent example is Nuri Sahin. being played too much at 17 set him back a couple of years, only last year at 21/22 did he hit his stride and become the player everyone knew he could be
