£32 million profit in transfers over

Not all of that will still be there. In fact, probably a very small proportion of it now to help with the club's finances and some will have been spent, there may be a small amount left in the kitty, but the majority of that money which was in the transfer budget will have been spent by now.

If you had a net spend of 1 quid then likely the club would be an extra 30odd million in debt. Everton needs to make a profit off transfers to stay afloat.

The huge increase in TV revenue should easily cover our modest debt.

When I look at teams who finish below us and the amount they spend then it's amazing how we do it.

Over the same period Stoke and Liverpool £70 million net each,Villa £40million +.

Not even asking for that sort of spend, just asking for a net spend of a pound to continue to push for a top 6 place

Phil.

The profit in transfers will be soaked up by agent fees and bonuses and the difference in wages/new contracts etc.
A lot of money had been invested in finch farm, making us able to develop more players to come into the team.....from where we were to now costs.

But that is just my opinion. Lets see how Roberto manages the side now.....no mega deals for aging players I hope

When you look at the figures others have spent 'net' on players and those clubs have also invested in youth development and complexes like finch farm then I certainly wonder 'what would have happened if we had that type of money to spend'.

Imagine if we were in a position that we didn't need to sell a Wayne Rooney or if we were in a position to buy Lukaku and the end of the season.

When Lukaku goes who do we get in and where do we find the money to get a player like Lukaku?.

I hope we don't look at season long transfers for the big clubs nearly players as our only options for the years to come.

Sure better people than me have more idea on what could happen. But lets look at this in more detail, we have three major share holders and about 25% owned by others. One puts in a lump of money, who sees the increased return?

It would be each shareholder.

posted on 27/11/13

No ones putting lumps of money in though are they?.

£32 million in profit over the last 5 years in player transactions, record TV deals and matchday receipts.

So if we hadn't made £32 million on player sales and the new TV deal wasn't there then you'd have a point.

Again how can clubs below us like Villa and Stoke spend a net £40 million and £70 million more than us when one has similar income streams and the other less. That equates to £70-£100 million between our spend and their spend over only 5 short years

posted on 27/11/13

Lets look at this TV money...

When do we get it? Do you know what the plans are for it?
Even with all this 'profit' we are very unlikely tonpost a profit....unless you think the audited accounts hide something?

I personally have no idea. But to compare us to Villa or Stoke (single shareholders/owners I believe) is a not ideal

Didnt villa have to sell a few players themselves? Because of debt. I also think coates at stoke stuck his hand in his pocket to buy pulis some players. Does make you think were does some of are cash go?

£100m in loans are owed to learner.

Wish we could have someone pump money into the club

posted on 27/11/13

Despite player sales at Villa they still have a net spend of £40 million over the last 5 years.Over that period of time they have reduced their wage bill dramatically but despite that it is still larger than ours.

My OP was not asking where the money as gone, but more the fact if we had that £32,000,001 where would we be now both in the league and also players at our disposal. It is just a hypothetical question.Would we better off because of better first eleven and or squad depth? or is having a smaller squad an advantage as our better players get more game time so are able to gel better

posted on 27/11/13

Well we dont have the same net spend.....

The club does what it does.

How long can we continue in this vein though.Take Lukaku out of our squad and where will we be now.In 6 months time that's what we will be facing,no Lukaku and looking for a 20-25 goal a season striker with an average net spend of minus £6,500,000 if the last 5 years are to go by

posted on 27/11/13

Would Liverpool loan us Borini?

posted on 27/11/13

If we had spent that £32 million wisely then we would have a better squad. But look at spurs got a better squad than us but cant seem to settle on a starting 11

posted on 27/11/13

Everton seem to have had a policy of loaning players to bolster the first team for many years though. Lukaku will leave at the end of the year and you'll just find another Donovan, Drenthe, Jo, pienaar etc. Its not like bringing in lukaku is a new way of doing things. its the blueprint

posted on 27/11/13

You don't get a player like Lukaku on a season long loan that often though. The other strikers we have on our books are going to get next to no game time this season barring injury,so unless we luck out big time again we are going to be powder puff upfront next season.

I can't remember any team getting a 20 goal a season player for £6,500,000 in recent years never mind one with costing a minus £6,500,000

posted on 28/11/13

This is point. That 32 million should be used to buy players like lukaku. The club is very short sighted and never looks at the long term plan. Next season we could and probably will lose 3 of this seasons stars to be replaced by more loans again preventing us from kicking on. Repeat each year until we run out of assets to sell.

Everything is fine though Bill is a blue.

We would appear to be a well run Club then wouldn't we. It is when we try to expand or relocate that we run into trouble thus appearing to indicate that our Business Plans suck. Also has Kenwright ever put his hand in his own pocket?

I'm worried that their may become a time where those who spend vast amounts of money more than us(looking at the last 5 years) actually overtake us in league position.

When more than if that takes place then we as Evertonians could look back with hindsight and say 'if only the club had made some investment then,we wouldn't be where we are now'

Living off richer clubs by loaning their players and selling our finest players every season can not and will not last forever

He's settled in really well after his first couple of games.

He will learn a lot playing alongside Barry,so on that score he could have a really good future ahead,he's a bit of a dying breed of player.A decent young DM who has done the majority of his learning on these shores
