To even have a chance he'll have to develop further, get a world title, defend a few times and then he can go for Ward . Most interested in Groves' future from all British boxers.

Ward is on another planet. Just like Floyd is at the lower weights, so is Ward. I give GG a 10% chance of winning.

Ward don't duck like Mayweather though, but finds it difficult to leave his backyard. Dirty fighter as well.

Loved when Ward called Floyd out saying he willing to kill himself and make 160lbs to make the fight happen.

Floyd went into hiding after that.

It was the most froch has been dominated since the ward fight. But groves probably hurt froch more Aswell.we will see.

Don't be silly.

Ward vs Groves would be a complete mismatch.
Groves has a way to go, to get to his level.
Must mature and gain more experience.

To even think Groves will be ready to match up to Ward in a year is absurd.
Ward would school Groves, and you are completely understating Ward's adeptness.
One of the best boxers around now. If anyone's punches are missed or smothered will be Groves.

Not a chance in hell. You are either overestimating George or under estimating Ward.

As above gameplan within a gameplay.

Groves's jab will be key to his victory.

Think your all underestimating groves. Every one of his fights he has improved. And he would frustrate ward. Still don't think he'd win but you never know in boxing. Give it a couple years

Groves was the number 2 contender for Ward's belt rightfully he should be number one now.

It is a fight that is likely to happen, just hope it is not in Ward's backyard.

Ward has good reflexes but Groves timing and speed will counter that.

It is the inside game and the dirty tactics Groves has to watch.

Groves proved on Saturday night he can mix it with the very best. Ward IS the very best in SMW and you could justifiably argue his case in terms of P4P.

Gorves has plenty for Ward to think about and for me he has more tools than any other SMW bar Ward at present. On that basis I could see Groves pushing Ward the hardest of all opponents out there right now but Ward would still win.

Groves is excellent and getting better all the time – But Ward, well he’s just awesome.

D4, you're a funny hamster. Groves is good. Ward is on another level. He's the mayweather of the higher weights.

Explain to me why Groves can't beat Ward using some actual boxing knowledge, not fanboysim.

Ward may have the beating of Groves but none of you have articulated why using boxing knowledge.

Simple. Ward is the better boxer with better defence, better punch output and variety and is probably the only active boxer who can counterpunch whilst going forward. GG looked a world beater against Froch in the first few rounds especially. But Frock is there to be hit and he gets hit often. In fact he probably feels insulted if you dont hit him. Ward is nothing like that. He feels insulted if he gets tagged.

Nothing about being a fanboy. I appreciate great boxing. Ward is a boring fighter. But then again so is Rigo and he is pure class. Ditto Floyd.

I think Ward is P4P #1 and I'd fancy him to beat Groves, but people are yet again underestimating Groves. In terms of skillset, he's well equipped to cause Ward some serious problems. His jab, speed and movement are outstanding, three skills that are key to beating somebody like Ward.

He's got more chance than anyone else at 168 of beating Ward, that's for sure.

Yes.

I'm not underestimating GG. I backed him to beat frock and degale when they met. It's just that I rate Ward highly. He is exceptional. One of the best I have ever seen. Technically brilliant in every aspect of the game except for concussive punch power.

To beat him you will have to use brute force with intelligent application. Groves has the skill but not the brute physical force.

Do you box mandingo?

I used to box. Have you?

I do some sparring.

What's your height and weight?

posted on 28/11/13

I was a middleweight when I boxed. Now I'm bordering on HW . 6'1 also. Could take a thump but not body punches.

posted on 28/11/13

If I were to train properly or fight at pro level, I'd also be a middleweight. I weight about 82kg but I'm in bad shape. And I'm also 6'1

How long you been into boxing?

posted on 28/11/13

Since I can remember. About 20 years or so. You tube showed me loads of fights and boxers I read about. Also have a pretty good video collection (yes VHS) of fight tapes. Been to a few high profile fights including Watson/Eubank 1&2, Naz against some argie bloke (2nd round ko). Lewis v Botha and many ABA fights at York Hall.
