AW has big respect in footballing world because of his knowledge about the game, his career at Arsenal and overall seniority. Media wouldn't treat him same as AVB...AW is too good.

Why would you have a problem with that? He's many people's no.1 considering his success and his innovations in the game.

Take away the money to buy
whoever he wants and Jose will
be seen as an average manager.
-------

Yeah, that's why Porto and Inter who were heavily outspent by their top European rivals became European champions under him. Because he's soo average.

You may as well call Di Mateo a great manager then.

Wenger took a good beating from the media when Arsenal lost to Villa on the opening day of the season. And when Spurs and Bayern beat us earlier this year. And when we got mauled 8-2 by Man Utd. When results go against Arsenal, he gets a shedload of stick. He just happens to handle it better than AVB.

In terms of success, he doesn't come close to many on that list, and in terms of innovation, well I'm afraid the myth that Michels invented "total football", doesn't stand up to scrutiny either, when you consider Hungary were playing that style of football 15 years earlier.

Wenger revolutionised English football. For any team wanting to compete with the big boys he's the man. I can only imagine what he'd have achieved if he decided to go to Madrid.

No, I can't. He's had one season of great success and that was really flukey. Mourinho has done it in 4 leagues and lifted 3 European trophies with financially inferior teams to the top European sides. People claiming it's all about the money to deny his greatness are living in denial. Mourinho is a born winner. Easily the greatest active manager in English game.

May not stand up to your scrutiny but it does to many historians of the game. He produced memorable Dutch and Ajax sides that were the talk of Europe for a decade. His record looks pretty darn successful to me.

Everyone gets stick when they loose, but stick what AVB is getting is on different level. My point is, AW won't get that because of his achievements and his seniority.

Paisley dominated both Europe and the league so he's top. No one else has done that.

Mancunian, Jack Reynolds first noted the playing styles of the Hungarian Golden Team, Michels played under him at Ajax, and then enforced the principles of this style of play when he eventually took over at Ajax.
Its a very simplistic recalling of football history to bestow such accolades of inventing styles of football to one man, when much of the groundwork had been previously laid down by others.
Obviously Michels was a great manager, but for me doesn't deserve to be second placed in that list.

Paisley, Shankly, Clough, Busby, Ramsey, Stein, Walter Smith would all be ahead of Wenger on my list, for starters.

Azzy none of them went the whole season unbeaten.

Cloughie

I saw him win those two Europen cups on the bounce.

We were awesome

Apparently in one season forest used a grand total of 14 players. Can you imagine that being done today?

Well its kind of history making. Only great managers can do that.

we (Forest) went 42 unbeaten, Arsenal broke our record.
But when we did that we used 16 players.

When Arsenal (wear red because we gave them their first shirts (without the stars on, it would appear)) acheived their unbeaten run using 22.

When you say history do you mean just English history ?

For me its

Fergie.....
Paisley
Clough
Wenger...

If people think Wenger should not be mentioned in the top 5 then they are ignorant biaised non Arsenal fans....

He has won 3 leagues, 4 FA cups and has 2 double seasons and the unwavered unbeaten season....
