I actually hate hugging, more than I love boxing. Two guys digging deep and trading blows an arm reach apart is an incredible spectacle.
Nothing like a good old punch up.

So you like the other 2% of the modern fights.
Big punches landing and landing often?
The damage and destruction, blood and guts then.
The build up, anticipation, verbal sparring and finally getting to see a score settled in the ring. Pretty much that, also most other sports have the above mentioned but i particularly the art of boxing compared to other combat sports.
I was actually really disappointed when I saw my first few fights, I thought they were all going to be like Rocky vs. Creed.
Hence I don't really watch it, I can't really tell when somebody lands a good punch, always have to rely on the commentator. I do look out for the results of the big fighters though.
It plays into man's basic instincts. Fighting and f'cking is what man does best,

Agree with this. However corny this sounds, I’d add that there is something pure about boxing compared to other sports (including combat sports). I admit when taken in context with all the corruption and politics involved a statement citing purity is well open to criticism.
But the 1 v 1 intensity, the simplicity of just punching (as oppose to kicking, throwing, grappling etc), the mixture of artistry and brutality, the spectacle of knockdowns/ knockouts - I love it.
I think you may be mistaking purity for simplicity.
I love boxing because of the honour and the history behind it! Its really is the only true sport thats why its been about the longest!
Also all this mma rubbish doesnt give a man a chance to get off the floor and fight back, you go down in that you get jumped on and stopped! This is why you dont get many impressive records or unbeaten runs in mma because you go over you lose! Many unbeaten boxers would of lost many fights in mma! Fighting is not just about what you can give out its about how many times you can get up and still win!

You've not seen much at all have you? That's probably the worst argument I've read against MMA.

Also if you aint noticed this is called a 'boxing forum' discussing mma on here is like discussing premier league football on a football conference forum! Im not doubting the ground skills on show there are pretty impressive at times even if it is rubbish to watch, but the standup fighting is usualy crude and unsafisticated, often reminding of a carpark fight on a saturday night! The two sports are a million miles apart and they often attracts a different type of individual!
More like discussing rugby on a football forum.
its the ultimate sport for me...man vs man...
and the training they put in is imense....its a brutal...brutal sport.
Boxing just caught my imagination as a kid. Based on a simple premise really. Who's the hardest?
Then as I watched you learn about the fighters, their styles their persona's and all sprinkled with a lot of hype and glitz. I was a kid in the times of the Four Kings, and the fights between them got me hooked.
MMA left me cold. The pure skill involved in boxing mesmerised me and still does.
Got into boxing when Naseem was around.
Loved it since then.
But what do you like about it?
Is that why you don't like the amateurs?
