Can't see it myself.

There's 3 teams better than them and I can't see them finishing above all 3.

Bitter SAF

May I know which 3 teams you talking about?

City, Chelsea? and 3rd one?

Bitter whyalwaysme

Could be almost anyone but if I was forced to guess I might take a complete stab in the dark and say the reigning champions....

The main difference between Arsenal are the other ‘contenders’ is that Arsenal are playing at their peak but City, Chelsea and United are not. If any of these teams (or two/three) get their act together they could easily go on a 10+ winning streak after Christmas. Would Arsenal be able to? Unless they strengthen in January I would say no

SAF

Teams? Or sets of players?

Wild Rover We are definitely not playing at our peak, we haven't had a winger fit all season. The others have more room for improvement though, thats true.

come on SAF name them

Bet SAF couldn't see utd being 9 points behind Arsenal after beating us at OT.

Squads I guess (not sure which option that was)

Lots will of course be taken but no offence is meant, I usually stick up for Arsenal but they really haven't required me to stick up for them this season so far....

Err Postman you need me to name them?

Isn't it pretty obvious, even if not mine and whyalwaysme's exchange kind of gives it away.

It's the 3 teams wild rover mentioned.

IF Ozil or Fabregas went to man utd, you'd probably be top of the league.

IF, IF, IF.

That's just such a worthless theory. If football nowadays was played like that, I wouldn't bother watching it. These surprises is what gives football is world best sport tag.

Wirld_Rover, Yes, that's good. You've got to capatilise on others wrong doings. City have just hammered Spurs and Norwich, they aren't playing to the top of their game? Chelsea ding well and 2nd, not playing to the top of their game, United, improved to their strongest level recently, although would have to agree for the most of this half of the season.

But so could Arsenal as well. Because they are playing to their peak and they have gone on this run in the season. So what's you're point? Arsenal haven't played to this standard (their peak so quote) in 8 years+ then now, because, they are playing at their peak and are going on this very good and established run. Every team that hits their peak, wins the title. Arsenal have hit their peak, so you say and have been as good as the other contenders peaks when they've won it, therefore, it's Arsenal's title to lose.

I'm not sure how helpful fab or Ozil at United would be to Blackburn getting top of the championship....

Though I guess I can't actually prove you wrong we will just have to agree to disagree....

Hint: wild rover is a rovers fan.

A lose vs Everton who are a really good team and ManU could find themselves 12 points behind the leader.
As Mourinho said, United cant afford to drop any points anymore.

......................................

I didn't say it was impossible just don't think they will for those reasons.

It's the same reason I never fancied Southampton for top 4 no matter how good their form was, same goes for Liverpool....

It isn't a foolproof system but its right more than its wrong.

Don't get some of you.

Arsenal are playing at their peak right now. yes, and are top of the table. United, City and Chelsea (arguably) haven't, so they aren't top of the table.

When United have played to their peak, they've won the league, at this point or the EOS.
When City have played at their peak, they've won the league, at this point or at the EOS.
When Chelsea have played at their peak, they've won the league, at this point or at the EOS.

When Arsenal have played to their peak, they are top at this point in the season. So it's good evidence that Arsenal are as good as the other 3 teams that are in the CL with them.

How do you know Arsenal are playing at their peak?

So if Chelsea are at their Peak, they'll win every game?

If City are at their peak they beat everyone 3-0 and set a PL points record?

I think your argument is weak.

City are favourites because they have the strongest squad in the division,
Chelsea because they too have a stronger squad, see carling cup game, but the 1st 11s are much closer with Arsenal.

Jose last won the PL in 2006, Arsene 2004.

Jose last won a league title with Madrid who have a much stronger squad than this Chelsea side.

PS. Pundits can have an opinion. Do we need Shearer's blessing to try to win the league? We haven't won anything since 2005, but of course this is a very different team to previous ones.

Man utd are not one more skip up from being out the title race. Man utd were 8 points clear going into may I believe in 2012 and we messed it up. I personally think 82 points will win it so we can drop another 15 points and possibly still win the title.

What reasons??? That Arsenal are playing at their peak, yeah, and are top of the league. If all the other teams were playing at their peak as well, they'd be as good as Arsenal, for sure. It'd be a 4 horse race from start - finish.

I don't think Soton will get Top 4 now they've been found out how to let in goals and aren't in a European spot. Top 10 easy for me. They don't have the consistency to get into the Top 4, Liverpool do, as they've done it before, so who knows, they might well do.

Like I said, if you're system "the better teams should finish above teams they are better than" then football is a sport not worth watching. As it would be predictable, season after season so you'd see the same results as you'd realistically predict and the same table as you'd realistically predict on quality of teams. A pointless theory.

Playing to our peak? We've got Walcott, Cazorla and Wilshere who've yet to hit top form. And they're our best three players from last season. Özil is widely regarded to still be settling in and we're still missing the likes of Podolski and Chamberlain. The only players who you could consider to be on top of their game right now are Ramsey and the back five.
