Aren't they just changing the 'AFC' with 'tigers'?
It's far less noticeable than say changing your club colours from blue to red, and changing the badge from a bluebird to a freaking dragon
I thought they were going to be called Hull Tigers, rather than Hull City Tigers..
But yes, Cardiff's morphing from Bluebird to Dragon will take some beating.....
It will end up a similar situation to Newcastle and the ‘Sports Direct Arena’. The media and press might call them the Tigers but to everyone else they will still be just Hull or Hull City.
Having said that, Town morphed from the Salmon Pink to blue and white stripes although we were never known as the Salmons !..
We did become The Terriers a while back when the badge was 'modernised' with a Yorkshire terrier on it...
It hasn't stopped most fans still calling out 'You useless c**** " though lol
I always thought Blue Star Newcastle had a good ring to it...bit like Red Star Belgrade... I also think Blackpool Wonga sounds appropriate..
If I followed Hull the name would be the least of my concerns.
It's a disgrace and the chairman is showing no respect for the fans that have followed Hull City down the years.
Thank god we haven't got someone like him in charge down at Town
That's a bit over the top Wakey
I reckon a man who has pumped over £70 million of his own money into the club, who was also solely responsible for keeping them afloat, has every right to slightly change their name.
Lets face it, all super league clubs and their Union counter parts, have also changed their names in the recent past into more marketable ones, so what the problem?
Also Hull have always played in the colours of a tiger and have been known as the tigers for yonks, so again where is the problem?
The words City, Town, United, Athletic & Wanderers etc. are all out dated and belong to bygone days and are all in need of change, to bring them back up to speed to compete in the modern world of sponsorship and commercialisation.
So for me, good on you Mr Alam for having the foresight & guts to demand a name change, because I reckon Hull Tigers AFC sounds just absolutely fine.
As for Town, I couldn't care a dogs b-llocks if Deano wanted to re-name us Huddersfield Terriers, Hounds, or Hod Carriers, because as long as the word Huddersfield appear in our moniker there aint a problem in my humble opinion.
Town & United are out of date ...?
& Terriers & Giants are with it ???

I'm with you Mirf...
When I went to Boothferry Park back in the old days...all I could hear was 'Tigers.. Tigers'....
and they didn't even play in stripes in those days...
Now they are playing in stripes, they all want to chant 'City...City' ....
Fans eh ? 'nowt but trouble
You pair of Moaning Owd Phartz.
If I were Chairman........ I'd get rid of that drowned rat mascot we have immediately.
We'd be the Brigantes...
The South stand would be 'ours' & be called..
The Hill Fort.
$5 unreserved 'seating'...
No entry for Foggy, Compo or Clegg
& there'd be NO free kiddies face painting ....
Free 'Brigante' Tattoos instead, & breakeven (cost) Recorderlig all around the ground.
Flags & banners encouraged in 'The Fort'...
How are we doing so far
Just rename the prophet Mohammed and call him 'Bob' from now on.....
Something like that might then hammer the point home to Hull's arrogant owner about respecting long traditions in a name.
Respect works both ways Mr Allam....
If I'm OTT what do you think of the Hull chairmanship comments to the Hull fans who sing City till I die.
His response....well they better hurry up and die quickly
That's actually quite funny.....
Yeah, lets Americanise our national game! Lets have dogs and a bud for the interval. How about some cheerleaders? How about some American owners at soccer clubs. Oh, shoot, it has already happened, rebranding of the club names will be the final nail in the coffin for BRITISH π¬π§ football!
I say to all the foreign owners who want to mess with our tradition is, go and fook some other countries leagues, not the UK ones!
To be honest LV, some clubs could do with a bit of oooooooooooomph !
True Jacko, some are happy with mid table mediocrity and a terrier dog that looks like a fox!
After the clip on Youtube of them doing the 'mauled by the tigers' chant, i would say it's fully justified, but if the owner pulls it off, it will actually be significant change not just for Hull, but other teams all over, as others will follow suit.
Mauled by the Tigers.
How about Leeds Sc--um, instead of United ?
No need for that Wethers, Harrogate didn't insult anyone or anything.
