You are 9 points from 4th. The title is over. 4th is looking ropey too.

Sir Gibby if man utd win tommorow we are 10 points off first and

Not checked, but when arsenal were pap last year how many points did they fall behind the top4 and still somehow managed to sneak in at the end.
That is our barometer. That would give me some hope it's a possibility, but i honestly cannot see it. This is to get top4 and not to win it.

Man Utds problem with fourth is the form of Arsenal and Everton let alone the teams of Spurs and Liverpool.

Man Utd's next four games are key but with Jones and Cleverley as your midfield I imagine teams will have a good go at you.

I think when people just look at it from a points angle then they say only 10 points off the top and all looks fairly rosy. When you look at it from a performance perspective then you realise us going on a winning run is so remote bordering no chance. I dont by the fact that we have been that unlucky against newcastle or everton. Think both deserved their wins. We didnt do enough being the home team to win the games.

We did. We had more chances against west brom, newcastle everton, cardiff this season and even against liverpool chelsea getting 1 point from them games is a bit unfair as we more then matched these sides. The bit of luck has gone.

posted on 14/12/13

Oh stop talking about luck. No one has hit more long balls this season and you passed the ball the least in the league in the previous fixtures I think.

Robbing remember those seasons fighting for 7th or 8th dominating games sucker punched, I remember west brom doing you last season. The same thing has happened to us, hit post numerous times this season, once against southampton rvp header rafael should had a pen, once against newcastle was going in off post but cleared by hand by newcastle player and everton rooney hit inside of the post and smashed the keeper with goal gaping and wellbeck hit post from header same game somehow when it looked easier to score.

Its like its not happening this season.

Just to put it into perspective in Kenny's last season we hit the bar and post 33 times and missed 5 penalties (which I doubt will ever happen again) whilst getting to two cup finals.

I'm pretty sure you and a lot of other fans will have said we were shít and maybe we were, however, maybe you are as well. Just a bit shít at the moment.

Jones and Cleverley is probably the weakest midfield in the top 8.

when Liverpool hit the post 33 times was that bad luck or just bad finishing. I tend to go with the latter.
Same as us now. We are not playing well enough to win the games. Simples! Rule luck out. Its the road to mediocrity!

Assuming Arsenal, Chelsea and City finish top 3 you still need Liverpool, Everton, Spurs, Newcastle and Southampton to ALL go to pot. Now maybe a couple will fall by the wayside but not all three of Everton, Liverpool and Spurs are going to falter.

You simply need to much to go wrong for other clubs who so far have been better than you and are not showing signs of being suddenly weaker.

RE: Sir gibby

Still think on paper united have the better squad out of those teams. If Moyes can somehow get us playing proper football again then i think we will do it. But things need to change and quickly, otherwise game over for 4th. Well know more after the christmas games.

defend the title are u for real?

posted on 14/12/13

Yes I am for real, if man utd had actually won our last 4 league games after beating arsenal we could have been going top tommorow on goal difference. Thats the fine margins.

posted on 14/12/13

I think it would be a disaster if a season where one of the lower points tally looks to win it if man utd don't win it. Man utd have the best squad for the long haul.

posted on 14/12/13

Just watched on sky a lot of people think man city will win it, if only man utd won it then a lot of people wouldn't be as confident with them.

Man city are doing worse in the league points wise this season at same stage. If anything I can see man utd in top 4 on new years day.

Top 4 by new year's day??!!! Are all the teams above us not playing again until then??!!

I still believe and hope we finish top 4, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, and let's take it a match at a time. This season has shown that trying to predict the results of clubs is more difficult than ever - so let's just hope we can put a decent run of games together and see where it takes us.

you'll be lucky to get 5th spot tbh with you.

I said on new years day as we play tottenham if we win our games including against spurs man utd will have won 5 league games have 37 points after 20 games.

Liverpool get a few draws and even the likes of tottenham man city and chelsea will all drop points. We are not that far away if we get our act together.

you've got to overhaul us,city,cfc,l0serpool,spurs and everton it aint happening mate.

Nothing's impossible, but right now it's a big ask of this team to win 5 games in a row, and who knows what the others will do??!! I prefer not to get ahead of ourselves and would just like to see some sign of progress, never mind winning the next 5 games.

I still think this season has many more twists and turns.
Man City have already lost 4 games and are still within a fraction of top spot. Arsenal and Chelsea have both lost 3 with United on their 5th defeat and we aren't even passed Christmas day.
Man United with that squad who know how a TITLE RACE is navigated surely must not be discounted 15 games into this season.

Only a foolish person with a LACK of FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE would right them off completely.
