Think you've summed up pretty well how im feeling
Super, I'm just gutted for avb but at the same time I agree with the decision. He's just not using this excellent squad we have properly and last nights result was the final nail in the coffin.
I don't know Don, I'm feeling upset and I wanted AVB to turn it around.
Yeah we were playing poorly but there are so many things to consider like new players etc plus which manager/team doesnt go through a poor spell at some point?
We have no consistancy or stability.
Given time and backing I think AVB could have turned this around to something respectable this season then something special next once the players beeded in and he knew his first 11 etc etc.
I couldn't have said it better myself Don.
An now we are back at facking square 1 AGAIN
Transitional period yet again
Don - you are a shining light on a very dismal day and I too wanted AVB to be a success but alas our performances were woeful so I would like Hiddink !!
Don, I was really excited when AVB joined, really thought the club was planning for the future. But there came a point when I just lost faith in him and couldn't see him turning it around. For me it was the randomness of his team selections that made me eventually lose faith.
Siggy, I completely understand why you are upset but you got to look at the bigger picture here. Apart from Norwich can you actually remember a full game where we have played well? The performances have been so below par and the formation avb has been persisting with was not working mate.
Vertonghen groove
Numbers, Hiddink was made head coach of Netherlands yesterday
well i wasnt going to comment on avb til he had played 20 premiership games this season, unfortunately he didnt last that long.
whereas i feel sorry for him i think tottenham were losing its identity,at times this season we were playing terrible a bit like the year we got relegated from the old 1st division.
Numbers, the appointment has to be right mate. This is a fantastic set of players but a manager has to come in and get these players performing.
Don,
I just don't understand why you're gutted for AVB, as if he's one of THFC's cult hero legends that you desperately wanted to succeed for that sake.
He was a poor, tactically inept manager from day one (including at Chelsea) and he doesn't deserve any fan sentiment. I don't get what it is based on.
He should not get any more support than Ramos, Gross or anyone else.
I'm sorry but that is the truth of it.
He was extremely lucky to bag such an elite job in the first place - how he blagged it I just don't know.
For the first time in a while, i'm actually quite excited about our future (obviously, the new appointment permitting).
At least he's landed on his feet

Fourth, fifth, fourth...........what was Levy expecting?. AVB to catapult you to the top of the league, sacking Redknapp was naïve. Putting 100 mill at Harry's disposal would have yielded better results in my opinion.
The performances have been well below par but he has had players leaving and new players coming in to contend with.
He made us solid and hard to beat (most times and baring the recent blip) and had the highest % win ratio for a Spurs manager in the prem. Not to mention our highest point tally last season on the back of losing Modric, VDV. Losing Bale this season.
I think given time and backing he could have turned it around and turned our team into something special, but to get that something special we needed to be patient and prepared to lose a little on the way.

Chicken, because I wanted it to work with him and I loved the guys passion. Who can forget us beating united away and avb almost bursting a blood vessel in celebration at the final whistle? I now realise it just wasn't working anymore and that's why I believe this decision is the correct one but I am human and have some sympathy
sacking a good manager SAD lot
Siggy,
All clubs have players leaving and new ones arriving - AVB is the only manager who has excuses made for him regarding this.
Arsenal have been losing their best players for years now - yet they have a good manager - so they manage.
A points tally is only as good as the season it is gained in. As I said before, finishing the 4th best team on < 70pts is a bigger achievement than finishing below 4th on > 70pts. We have to compete with the current crop of 19 other teams - not the previous lot.
And we wasn't so much hard to beat, we just played boring, non-creative football, which has relied on either last minute wonder goals or penalties - just to get points on the board.
I have not enjoyed 90% of our games since AVB's arrival - and that's from a Spurs fan point of view - not someone who simply did not like AVB.
This was 100% the right decision.
Once again, you're spot on Don
I'm sad and excited at the same time.
AVB should have had some more time imo. At least the West Ham game, if they would have kicked us out of the cup with him as our manager I'd put my hands up high and say he has to go.
On the other hand I can see where people are coming from who are happy that he's been sacked. The football was dire and we had some crazy result.
We'll hear a lot more in the coming weeks from our players about AVB and it will be interesting to hear what they have to say about him.
Good luck AVB, go back to Portugal and start again
Thanks for the unforgettable win over Fergie at OT. Will never forget!

Yes Arsenal have lost players and managed with out them but have they had to deal with wholesale changes to the team/personnel? No.
I do see your point but I still think this was a work in progress for AVB - make us solid and start to work on attractive play. His porto side was very attacking.
I don't like that we are back to facking square one again with no stability.

Spur of the moment, exactly my thoughts mate.
Don,
Again, I don't get it. Beating United alone is not what dreams are made of. Blackburn beat them at OT and went down. How long could AVB live off that one scoreline?
It was a great scoreline but that 2nd half performance was one of the worst ive ever seen - and we completely fluked getting over the line. That wasn't a tactic - it was a fluke.
I cant believe you want to hold onto him because of a 3-2 win last season yet we have been stuffed by 3 teams this season, one of which is one of the worst in the league, and you feel sorry for him.
And I cant see why you would have sympathy for AVB out of all our ex-managers. As I say, its not like he's Kilinsmann, Hughton, or anyone with a THFC background, but he's nothing but a young bloke who came from a poor league, mucked up at Chelsea and has now failed at our club.
I really do not get it mate - I really don't.
If we don't have a decent manager lined up then it's a joke decision...
