welcome to the game Gervinho thought at least we would of told him about Barton

I have to say as a Chelsea fan I always take the p-ss out of Arsenal fans when they go on about conspiracy theories against their team, but when that happens to you first game of the season I can at least understand it a bit more.

Joey Barton is to blame for the England Riots

Not a Barton fan by any means but I think it was a fair decision. If Gervinho doesn't react in my opinion Walton has to send Barton off.

A United or Chelsea player wouldn't have slapped him in the face and jeopardised the teams chances, total indiscipline from Arsenal.

Gervinho will now miss the Liverpool, United and Swansea games and Song probably will as well when the squad is already stretched

Not a bad player, but a complete thug! Gervinho should not have dived either though.

Bubble...

It should not make a difference if Gervinho reacted, Barton should have got a red anyhow.

the guy is pure SC-M!

Taylor was also a disgrace suggesting to the ref that Barton had received an elbow. The first day of the season and I am already fuming....

"Gerinho should NOT have been sent off, Barton should have "

Can I just ask, does anyone (with reasonable brain capacity) actually think Barton should have been sent off?

He may not have been within his rights to take the matter into his own hands, but it doesn't warrant a red. Neither does hauling him up.

Gervinho raised his hands to Barton's face, which is complete idiocy. If he'd pushed Barton, or even got him by the scruff of the shirt, he's have stayed on.

Touching an opponent's face (in anger) is stupidity. Grabbing a player is stupidity, but it won't get you sent off.

Barton must be the only player in the world that could confront a player for diving, get hit and still be the one that is in the wrong !

"Taylor was also a disgrace suggesting to the ref that Barton had received an elbow."

BTW, I agree with that though! I'm not sure if he genuinely thought he'd seen an elbow or what, but either way it's a bit stupid.

Vinnie Jones would have ripped Bartons head off. I wouldn't have complained then if he faked a dive and got his opponent sent off.
Besides, it would have given his hair time to grow again.

Aggressively hauling a player up off the ground is just as bad as raising your hands to a player.

Under no circumstances should players start manhandling each other and if they do it should be an automatic red card.

Barton should have gone too.

posted on 14/8/11

I you hit a dog and it bites you can you have many complaints. If Barton doesn't deserve to walk then you suggest that it's okay for all players to man-handle each other so long as they aren't punching/slapping right?

Barton and Gervinho deserved EXACTLY the same punishment, to suggest otherwise makes you look as stupid as Pardew did last night on MOTD.

Typical Gooners. All the talk's about Barton, hardly a mention about your debutant diving in his very PL game. Most fans of most clubs would consider that a hotter topic of debate.

"Gervinho should not have dived either though"

I don't know why people insist on repeating this nonsense, as it is evident that he was tripped, it was NOT a dive.
Clearly his reaction merited a red card, but Barton's initial reaction was equally deserving of a red card, and probably only escaped due to the fact that the ref's back was turned when Barton initiated this ugly incident.

"Touching an opponent's face (in anger) is stupidity. Grabbing a player is stupidity, but it won't get you sent off."

Perhaps you and other misinformed people like you should acquaint yourselves with the actual rules and laws of the game, rather than blindly accept the nonsense that the pundit come out with.
The idea that raising ones hands to a players face is a red card but is not a red card if you commit violence in other ways is simply a fiction of ignorant pundits.
Barton's actions were completely out of order, had NO justification, and merited a red card as much as Gervinho's (and Song's) actions did.
He. like Song, was simply fortunate that it escaped the ref's attention.

For being a 'hard lad he sure goes down into a fetal position easily
------------------------------------------------
He's not a hard lad, he picks on the weak. Just like he did when he booted a city player in the head and a 16 year old kid in Liverpool. He's also sly, he punched the lad from Blackburn when he wasn't ready for it. I've never seen him go for a player like Keane or Viera. Can you ever imagine him going up against a player like Duncan Ferguson?

Nope!

He's a typical school yard bully. When he picks on Vidic, JT, Drogba, Rio, De Yong, Kompany et al then he might be viewed as a tough player but just now he's a spineless bully and a wimp who goes down faster than a hookers pants at a chelsea christmas party
