Ginger - I wouldn't say I'd trade FA Cup for Champions League as such, more ask the question 'Why can't we get both?'.
I agree about Europa being a drain. That's why I think Laudrup hasn't been doing so well this season and I'd be prepared to overlook that. Once Europa becomes a route to CL then I'm all for it.
LukaBrazi (U6949)
For a young coach like de Boer the job at Tottenham would be massive. Obviously it comes with a lot risks, but that's the game nowadays.
I think he'd jump at the chance to be the manager of team chasing top 4 in the PL with a talented squad
Step forward Avram Grant, the old shop minder.
I hope so. His record at Ajax is good too but I did read he likes to play a similar system to AVB too. Hopefully his approach is more successful.
Grant doesn't tick anything except losing in cup finals, much like Arsenal.

==========
You just know that Spurs will win it the season before the CL route comes in, then never get close to winning it again
Although our chairman is trigger happy, I still think managers would be very interested to take the job.
It's not like we're fighting relegation.
They'd take over a club four points of 4th place abd still in all competitions with excellent training facilities and a new stadium on the way.
Could be worse
Ginger - Let's hope that's because we're not in it because we're already CL.
To be honest this may have been something to consider before AVB was sacked; the fact there will be as of next season 2 routes to the CL.
The UEFA Cup becomes a 'proper' comptetition from that point of view next season, so long as if the winner of the UEFA Cup has already qualified for the CL the position goes to the best placed loser, rather than as an additional place in the winner's league ...
No idea what happens if a team that's already qualified for the CL wins it. My gut feeling is nothing will happen, sadly.
What happens if a team wins the CL who has already qualified by their league?
I guess we know the place doesn't go to their home league (e.g. Man United in 2008), so as you say, probably nothing.

What should we look for in a new manager?
