You really think clubs would charge a tenner, it won't even be cheaper

The German set-up includes safe standing and those sort of prices, LIW

....and any p-ss heads spoiling it for the rest dealt with v hard rom day one....

It's not just about the cost, it's choice.
Things have changed so much, just like in life, for example safer cars now.
Is it Dortmund that get 80,000 including standing who are we are to say its unsafe.
Back in the day many standing areas were a massive crush, that does not mean it has to be like that now.

You think clubs are going to charge less ????

You think owners in this country are going to start charge half has much ????

Germany is totally different in every way

Yeah it's moved on from the rubbish we had in the 80's, when clubs were hardly getting any fans and the football was shi te.

Why because of all seating stadium

So you would bring it back against the wishes of the Hillsborough families

Yes or no

LIW, it's changed because the hooligan culture does not exist like it did back then.
Culture and society has changed.
Outside football grounds has changed, it's nothing like the old days.
Safe standing clearly is possible, there are many upon many of examples.
Back in the day fans were treated like cattle, much has changed.
Surely it's safe to stand up!

we gonna ban cars because they kill several thousand people every year

yes or no , liw

Germany do it, so can we

<RIP the 96, and justice for their families, and hopefully the 2 inspectors on duty that day that ended up as chief constables of Merseyside, and many more of the bent police that went along with the cover-up will be dealt with too>

Lufc,

I like standing and would have no problem with it

But not against the wishes of them familes

Why won't you answer the question

Would you bring it back against the wishes

posted on 20/12/13

I remember going to ER in the early 70s as a 7 year old, never was crushed or scared.
Imagine the improvements now to standing areas? Would be amazing!
Think I need a sit down

I've never said it's not safe, am saying I wouldn't bring it back against the wishes of them families

Will you answer the question, would you say let's have it back against the wishes of them families

Yes or no

Straight forward question

posted on 20/12/13

I have already answered it twice, Yes I would
If standing killed them I would say No but it didn't.
Standing happens in many sports including football and if done properly it is safe.

If I was the Culture Secretary, then yes, I would sign the go ahead for safe standing built to the German standards. I would explain my reasoning to the Hillsborough families before I signed it off.

But as you said LIW nothing is 100% safe.
Just look at the theatre last night, the storms etc
Life can be unsafe.

Liw, questions you say?..

"but there were also gates not open that could have prevented some of what happened, but were there not to many people pushed into that stretch of stand?.."

Liw. if I remember rightly, not all gates into the stands were open, so when being let in most people were being ushered into one section at a time or something stupid like that, it ended with the sections over filling and fans its claimed being let in that shouldn't have even been there!..

I ain't saying anything against the families of those that lost their lives, or against anybodys wishes!..

I'll ask one, no, two simple questions!..

1/if the gates leading in had been opened, would that have taken a bit of pressure away from the stands that were being over filled?..

2/if the people incharged had done things the way the book says, could this disaster have been avoided?..

Its been said the stands were to full, the gates should have been opened, and the people incharge didn't do their jobs right!..

Even the late Maggy covered something up, and she was the boss of the country!..

Stands are safe if properly supervised and used to their capacity!..

And I can say the German fans are happier with standing than sitting!..

There is so much to admire about the German match day experience.
We have lots to learn.

Hillsborough occurred because the police panicked where a steady head would have got the crowd arranged better. The terrace to the left and right of the centre pen at the Leppings Lane terrace were half empty. Had they directed people into these areas I doubt there would have been the same issues.

This sort of thing suggests that standing had very little to do with what happened!..

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-19577033

Read CROWD SAFETY!..

I know Liverpool fans will be p'd off with seeing this sort of stuff day in day out,(my apologies to all!)but like I've said, even our fans had problems at the same ground that was also branded by safty experts as unsafe and dangerous!..

There is nothing wrong with bringing back standing areas so long as the area is safe & properly regulated.
It works in Germany & there's no reason with the amount of money in the game that we can't adapt the same approach in this country.

I would love to see standing brought back, sadly it won't happen.
Mainly due to the tragic deaths of 96 football fans.
I know it works in Germany, but would you sign a document legalisng it?
Imagine if just one person died due to standing!
The're other more dangerous sports for spectators, rallying being one, surprising how many spectators die.Dakar rally being a prime example.

You're not going to get a standing area again where fans are packed in like sardines.
I really don't see what the problem is.
Nothing wrong with giving fans a choice.
The stadiums have improved dramatically since the 80's.
