their batsmen couldn't stick around in a glue factory

I'd put it down to wishfull thinking from the ABE crowd.

I do not get all the england hating that takes place on here. It's not as if there are any nasty, easy to dislike players in this england team, unlike australian teams of the past (yes merv, i'm looking at you!).

Tbh, India need to sort their own house out first - the BCCI should either focus on their test side or the IPL/t20. Or at least try to find a half-way house in much the same England have, with far less emphasis (and riches) placed on the latter to the detriment of the former.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the forthcoming t20 games with England once this series is complete? For all we know India might thrash England at t20, which will only underline the way BCCI is thinking at the mo

20/20 is just rounders !!

Cricket is test cricket, where your technique, mental abilities etc are brought to the fore.

Keep your 20 over tosh.

I think they will beat us in the ODI's. They are the best in the world as they won this years world cup. But the test format has more weight, posterity, and legitimacy in my eyes and the eyes of proper fans. I do love t20's and ODI's as I enjoy going with mates and having a beer but the BCCI have placed it on a higher pedestal than it should be and they have to correct it.

Ask all the players who have scored a test century if if means more than a ODI or a 20/20 century.

Guess the answer.

Well done England for achieving the no.1 ranking after 30 years mediocrity.

However I do feel that this team will never be a jack of all trades or formats like India , Aus or WI were during their stints at the top.India were juggling three formats in the last 3 months and to ease in from one version to another isn't easy.Especially when they are on completely different pitches.

Truly great and versatile teams will win test series and ODI world cups. Will England manage to do this ?

Well, we're only short an ODI world cup win, as we've bagged the othe two.

Given the severe hammering your team have just taken, I'd be keeping my head down if I were you.

Redlaw, Imagine how proud you would be if this England team was full of pommies.......Hey!!! that would be good wouldn't it.
I'd suggest if you did have a full English team the ranking would be around 4th or 5th at best.Anyway don't let a few (quite a few) foreign players get in your way of a good old fashioned pommie rant on how good you are....cheers

Do you know how childish this makes you look?

To the rest of the posters on here. Is there an age limit as to how old one can be to post on here, on can five year olds like this person just type what they like?

Perhaps Australia should get some players from over sea's .The current crop of aussies are uselsss.

Andrew Symonds. Born in Birmingham, selective memories these bitter aussie minnows. Maybe we should give the aussies a 3 test series instead of 5?

India won the WC on home soil, cheered on by 500,000,000 supporters.
Yuvrag Singh was their star player.
In England it will be a different kettle of fish and I predict an England victory as they had in 2007.
If India's bowlers struggled to take wickets in tests without fielding restrictions how on earth will they take wickets in ODI games.

Totally agree know it all. Imagine getting beaten by an innings 3 times on your home soil, and on each occasion inside 3 days. How embarassing.

Maski absolutly! seeing the Australians resulting to a shambles having no idea how to get England out. Cook/Trott and the likes was amazing viewing. Must have been hard thing to take for the Australian supporters..
Knowing their team is just pants. They will have to get use to it .Sri-lanka will keep them in the field for days on end...

Crikey I hope that doesn't happen to be honest. I look forward to the ashes series as much as any other sport event on the planet. Sri Lanka mean nothing to me and I hope the Aussies wallop them. But they will have to get a grip if they want to do that. That said, they will probably not face bowlers as bad as Dhoni?

posted on 14/8/11

Maksi nah i hope the Aussies spend days and days and days fielding in 100f and 90% humidity in sri-lanka.. Its always nice to see an australian suffering and clueless.. and praying for devine intervension..

9 test series undefeated says it all! And against all the top teams since Sept 09.

I am so bored of the 'they aren't English' argument. Fact is they are playing for us therefore by definition they are. The only reason you hear people bleating is pure jealousy that they are unable to unearth world class players. I applaud England for acting so brilliantly and effectively within the rules of International cricket and maybe the Australians should do so as well as to be honest their test team is nothing short of pathetic at the moment even though they are full of non 100% Australians (that guy who is actually Pakistani was meant to be the next big hope of Aussie cricket after hitting a world class score of 30+ against us wasn't he?).

Also:
Alistair Cook, James Anderson, Graeme Swann, Ian Bell, Chris Tremlett, Ian Bresnan, Stuart Broad etc - all very much of a higher standard than most teams in the world right now.

Don't worry about them Redlaw. People are generally selfish under achievers who don't have a positive word to say about anybody or anything that has nothing to do with their miserable lives.
You and I can however just enjoy some wonderful cricket being played by our great side. God knows we have waited a long time

KPs mother is English but it apparently doesn't count

Let's look forward to the last test match, and enjoy what is going to be a very quick and destructive white wash. I am guessing this next match won't even get to the fourth day such is the class difference between these 2 sides. It's our time mate. Let's enjoy it

Tim Bresnan sorry, facepalm!

Oh southsydney, let's look at the bowling attack shall we?
Anderson - born in Burnley, Broad - born in Nottingham, Tremlett - born in Southampton, Bresnan - born in Yorkshire, Swann - born in Northamption.

Top three scoring batsmen so far? KP - Born in SA to an English mother, Cook - Born in Gloucester, Bell - born in Warwickshire. Only 4 of the starting 11 were born overseas and either have an English parent or English ancestry anyway.

Copy that post EnglishReign and be prepared to paste it a million times mate.

The rest of the cricketing world are going to have trouble excepting we are going to dominate world cricket for years and will come up with all the excuses under the sun to justify their pathetic existence in the world of cricket.

We however can just enjoy our supreme march from one country, home and away whilst our English players, because as you say that is exactly what they are, take team after team to the cleaners.

Andersen can't bowl in Australia and we can't take 20 wickets there

India are the best team in the world with the best batting line up the world has ever seen and we have no chance, even on our own patch

All those lines are used up, so we go back to the issue of foreign players in our team Some people struggle firstly with a multi cultural society, why bother when we can just shut the doors and let all the other foreigners suffer? and even the fact that if you play for England, then you have earned the right to do so, and some can't even understand how that works

It's our time.
