Ermanelo (spelling) has done a fine job. Jose Just need to bring in a bit of balance now. Other than that we are set for a very long time.

No one is to blame. I think he s done alright, look at the prospects we have in our youth,

We didn't buy a striker because torres had to be given a season under Jose, and for the midfield.issue its the same problem we will never evolve.until.certain players take a back seat or sold

Gazza if you look at Emenalo's CV its not that great is it.

Compare that to someone like Hiddink who has built up a wealth of football knowledge from many of the top leagues around Europe.

Our transfer policy has been a joke for the last few years to be honest. There have been a some good players bought here and there but in terms of the overall balance of the squad, its been haphazard at best.

I know a line trotted out on here is that since our midfielders usually score so many goals we don't really need to rely on a top scoring striker like a lot of the other big teams. However, as we're seeing this season with City and Pool in particular, having that player leading the line who has that innate ability to put the ball in the back of the net is invaluable. At the moment, none of our midfielders are offering that at all.

In our first two seasons with Jose, although we didn't have a goal machine upfront, we were able to steamroll the league due to have two of the best centrebacks in the world. Now however, the only world class players we have in our squad are in the attacking midfield. The rest of our squad is nowhere near as strong as it needs to be if we want to really be a dominant force in Europe.

In all honesty, if we're going to challenge for top honours in the next few years we need to have a complete clear out of our current strikers. Bring back Lukaku, sign a WC one and the 3rd be a youth product/possibly one of the current 3.

The midfield in its current iteration is a completely unbalanced mess and will probably warrant an article in itself to fully describe the possible options to take.

Kevin we must be looking at two different Chelsea squads because all I see is us needing a huge overhaul of players despite already spending hundreds of milluons in recent times.

That can't be seen as a success surely.

It's a big improvement on Kalou, Anelka and Malouda

Huge overhaul!?

CM and a CF that's it. Maybe a case to bring in Shaw as well this coming summer, but I think Cole and Bertrand quoted be enough for this and next season.

Kevin I would say that needing a new strikeforce, central midfield and left back counts as an overhaul.

In the current system it could be argued that the DOF is even more important than the manager.

Especially as managers come and go.

I have nothing against Emenalo on a personal level but I don't think that he has helped to really improve us in any way as it could be argued this is one of the weakest squads we've had in a while.

If we are making progress then I don't really see it.

Jose showing balls taking on Torres.
Something Emenalo has avoided

Sideshow the role of the DOF is much more than just a scout or even head scout for that matter.

DOF has a very big say in who the clubs buys and sells as well as loans in and out.
