Benitez over played Torres at Liverpool and it has resulted in the Torres we have seen for the past few years.
I guess it's similar to how Owen was over played at an early age and lost his electrifying pace.
Torres' form isn't to do with how Chelsea play, this excuse was made when Benetiz managed Chelsea and people said we would see the return of Torres of old but nothing changed, he's just lost it.
Agreed, 1982. I do think his confidence is completely shot, though.
Look at Owen. He didn't lose his ability to finish. Torres has, and I don't think that's down to injuries.

Explain why Torres is so bad for Spain then?
He's lost it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spain play defensive possession football, the 2010 WC was the most boring Spanish team i've ever seen and the strength in depth they have means that a few poor games and you're out.
Also i didn't completely excuse Torres, he has been poor but the way Chelsea play hasn't helped him, or other centre forwards the club have signed recently.
He can't finish and has lost his place, that's his biggest problem.
I don't buy the notion that it's to do with the team. He was pretty average for Liverpool in the season Chelsea signed him, the writing was on the wall for Torres then as a top class cf, difference was he was still able to finish off chances.
Now his confidence is completely gone he misses chance after chance and that's his problem not brought on by Chelsea's style of play.

---------------------------------
That's nonsense. Torres was a powerful, young, athletic striker in his early 20's under Benitez and he wasn't playing any more than others. Certainly nowhere near the crazy amount of games Messi and Ronaldo have been playing since their teens. It shouldn't suddenly make you sheite. Not to mention injury problems at Liverpool and some bench warming for Chelsea and Spain have given him plenty of recovery time and he's still crap most of the time.
He just lost a bit of pace for some reason after an injury spell and every other part of his game seemed to collapse from then.
Yes because he was being brought back far too soon after injuries which is why I said Benitez over played him. No matter how athletic you are as a young player, if you are getting injuries then you need the appropriate rest.
Unfortunately for Liverpool and Benitez there was no one who could deputise for Torres while he needed longer breaks from his injuries.
You don't just lose a bit of pace for no reason, it's because he was being brought back too soon. Like I said, much like Owen in his younger days.
Torres had too knee surgeries in that year before the World Cup then he suffered a groin injury in the actual World Cup. That's when he finally lost it.

Giroud is not quality at all IMO. Has he actually scored against a decent side yet? He runs a lot I will give you that. The other 2 have far more class IMO
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bayern Munich.
Giroud is good I think he doesn't really suit Arsenals style but can still do a job for them. I think if he was at Bayern Munich for example I think he would be better than Mandzukic.
what a pile of rubbish about Torres and Rafa and overplaying him
If anyone played him while not fit it was Spain in 2010 and that was Torres' choice as much as anyone's
If anyone destroyed his confidence it was Roy with the park-n-hoof tactics
as soon as Kenny took over he scored 3 in 4
at his peak he was brilliant, world class
a lot happened over a few years that ended that
"a lot happened over a few years that ended that"
Like what?
injuries
roy
the club he played for got destroyed by the owners
was made to be 'donkey work' boy by his national side
got older
it's a long list

Stop wumming Flash, Giroud
Next thing you'll say Arsenal will win the league
What I find most amusing is that if Arsenal had a player like Hernandez, they would be contenders. However the little gooonies on here mock him all the time
I've never understood the arsenal attacks on Hernandez.
they're the only club that don't seem to rate him

Although in terms of strikers, I should have added welbeck to this list, for the hype he gets he's no better than the players listed in this article either

Who hypes Welbeck?
Hype is a measurement, by how much I did not state mudd, im saying people say he's better than he is (many United fans do), by how much I have not stated! I'm just saying I should have included him from the start as he's a striker at a top club whose goal tally doesn't justify what some fans say about their ability
Welbeck is better than Torres, and I don't even rate Welbeck that highly.
Torres really is that bad, I actually feel sorry for him.
