Good article lv
4 million is small change to Hoyle, that's not taking anything away from the great man.
I hope we can get a decent striker in in January
Where's Darn btw?
The accounts were for 2012/13 season, and obviously wages would go up from league One..We also had Beckford and Vaughan on loan and they would be costing £20,000 pw I reckon. Theo Robinson, Neil Danns, Adam Hammill and Simon Church also had loan spells, then we brought in Southern, Gerrard, Lynch, Scannell and Clayton too , all would be on top wages ...so yes, the costs will have gone up.
There are also a fair number of admin staff at the club, 30 to 40 I reckon, including the directors, coaching staff, academy staff and admin/marketing staff...
Next years accounts, for this season, should show some improvement as wages won't go up by the same levels, and we have Hunt's transfer fee, plus another £2m from Rhodes...minus the fees for Vaughan, Hammill etc..
I suppose next year they will be hoping for a lower loss, maybe £2m - £3m, depending if we sell any more players (Vaughan?).
The biggest problem, for me anyway, is our home gates, 4% down in numbers from last season despite prices being frozen. I think the strategy Town have of charging the casual fans almost double what a SC holder pays is a flawed strategy. I understand Town are reviewing this for next season, and match day pricing in general.
£23 to watch Town v Yeovil on a Sunday between Xmas and New Year, while Barnsley , playing Derby County today, are charging just £15 ?
Anyway, I won't go on abut it...
Jacko - you're right about the pricing strategy - Town are way behind other clubs on this - Hoyle should be a master at it based on his record of pulverising all the high street card giants.
One week, Town should just say its completely free to come and see how many turn up - what would the crowd be? 18K? 20K? 24K?
Yeah, the pricing strategy doesn't seem successful. Town shouldn't be slugging the casual supporter, but working towards making that fan a more regular one. Not just by offering a discount for being a season card holder. Town should offer packages four matches for a set price, an affordable, incentivised price! I'm sure they'll come up with something!
Hydy, Darn has had modem issues, although he was supposedly up and running again yesterday. Maybe it has gone belly up again?
61% increase eh LV..
says it all for me.
Folk have had enough of this 'big business' in football garbage.
Cut it however you want.
people have stopped turning out. The injustice of poor take home pay, & obscene player wages & the expected admission charges, all equals one thing.
EMPTY SEATS.
(15 quid at Barnsley is a step in the right direction though.)
Good topic LV... 5 snap on 's from me
Well, you ain't voted it five stars!
Spot on, there needs to be a change and for football players to snap back to reality regarding wages.
Nice one Darny!
What's your prediction for today, mystic Darn?
Well I reckon Yeovil will score 1st...
Then Clayton to equalize....
in the mean time, Novak to knock in a couple against his old mate JR's side Blackburn...
Well look at that
You have to admit... I'm 4 king good
of course Town will be leading by 3-1 at half time....
How do you do it Darn? I'm amazed!
It's all in the wrist action
.................How Rude !
'Battling tops - World Champion'
to continue.....
5-1 to Town,
Rhodes to equal his old mates tally in their game..
scoring 4 between them..
Tats/Fletch to knock one in,
Drink Whater....too
ex loanee Beckford....There is equilibrium in the force tonight, When you awake, these things will be made plain to you..oooooooooooo
