Get over it AJ, it is only a game. You are sounding like the red dogs when we won at the kennel last season. There are 46 games in a season and in some you don't get your just rewards while in others you win against the run of play. That is football and why it is unpredictable.
Have to agree with you on Russell's first touch but I think we are in the minority. Some players the crowd takes to and become blind to their short comings. Green was another loved by the crowd but he couldn't control a bag of wet cement whereas if Sammon doesn't kill the ball every time the crowd are on his back.
And there are many of them so ...
Wigan - have always played good football but Rosler stated that he wanted to get the defence sorted first and build from there. Came with tactics and we couldnt cope with it, sadly.
Atmosphere - Wassa raised it way back and I've commented on it several times since. Its poor at home, to say the least. A standing section would make a difference but the biggest issue is (younger?) people not understanding what it REALLY takes to support a football team.
Chris Martin - yes I think the Refs are wising up to his inability to stay upright. Like Howard webb and Ashley Young yesterday (LOL!)
Jamie Ward - I'm not a great fan myself. He's tricky but lightweight and injury prone. Not one I can see making the grade in the premiership.
Russell - disagree, but not entirely convinced yet. Needs a longer run in a favoured position but isn't likely to get it.
Sammon - I still rate Sammon for what he is. He's not great but does a job for us when he comes on. this is his level though so, like Ward, I cant see him making any impression if we got promoted.
Hendrick - on this one I could not disagree more. Jeff has all the attributes needed to be a decent premiership standard player. He's young and still learning but is a quality player who will get better.
As for loaning out, only if we can get better in. Bamford looks like its happening so Sammon or Russell could go - probably Sammon as Russell is more versatile.
Ward - yes if we could get Chris Brunt in.
Hendrick - not a chance!
Agreed Spart. I will try and get over it. I try not to whinge, but yesterday really pi$$ed me off for a number of reasons and when you're annoyed, other things annoy you that wouldn't normally.
Sorry to go over old ground Wassa. The crowd appears expectant. Almost a case of well, were going to win this game, it's just a matter of when we'll score.
I see Eustace is struggling to get over it. on his twitter account he said:
"always difficult playing Wigan rugby club"
Cheers for your views Peeder. Interesting.
AJ regarding the atmosphere, as I put above, the article I did 2 years ago, it still hasn't changed. Funnily enough me my lads and my mates were sat in the perelli end (I saw Mostyn in there too) there was a couple and 2 kids, a woman was reading a book on her tablet and the boys were playing on their ds, the poor husband was watching the match, it must've been the only way he could go to the game by taking his wife and kids along.
There's a big comparison at away games. We call it, the away family. You've got nick Webster and his mates who sing home and away constantly you've got Ben who bangs the drum, and gets everyone going. The best thing about going away is, that it's real fans who go away no woman reading books and no children playing games. It's all about the football, there's a proper atmosphere. That's why I prefer going to away games.
Great post peeder regarding our players. My sentiments entirely. Still say they need to get in the gym more. We get knocked off the ball too easily against physical sides.
Experienced the same thing Wassa. There were 2 women sat behind me during the Doncaster match who spent the entire first half talking about everything except football. Wanted to tell them where to go, it was that infuriating. They weren't there yesterday thankfully.
I'm fortunate that my wife is quite happy for me to go to games and has no desire to go herself.
I used to have my season ticket in the East Stand Lower, but moved this season to the Gordon Guthrie Stand. It's quite good there, but there's not much opportunity to exchange banter with away fans.
Who would have thought we have just won 8/10 games Judging by all the negativity on here
Peeder summed up my opinions perfectly apart from I think I'd have a preference to keep Sammon and let Russell go if it came to a choice.
We also need to keep an eye on the number of loanees who we will *not* be allowed to sign that become important parts of the first team.
At the moment if we did go up we'd have to make a stellar signing just to replace Wisdom in the side, never mind improve it. I don't want the strike force to be full of loans too. One player in that situation you could cope with. Three or four would be fatal to hopes of staying up.
I'm fortunate that my wife is quite happy for me to go to games and has no desire to go herself.

Wassa I agree with you totally mate, the atmosphere away is grand, but at home it can be poor, especially where we do kids for a quid.
Bringing in families with young un's and their Mums may do well for the balance books but the atmosphere suffers.
Peeder Agree with most of what you wrote, but for me Sammon can Fack off as he is total garbage. Russel, give him a bit longer and Wassa is still plissed if he think Hendrick should go.

Only if you say sorry!
I didn't say he should go, but I did say I wouldn't be that bothered if he did.
Bamford signed till the end of this season.
Clough interested in Ben Davies and Connor Sammon.
Clough interested in Connor Sammon.
Interested is good enough, Tell Connor I'll pick him up in 10 minutes, I can have him in Shellfield in no time at all.
Thank you and good bye
yep I must admit I give Connor Sammon the benefit of the doubt. He's not good enough
Taxi for Sammon.......
Ajisa...You must be out of your brilliant mind..?did you not go to Barnsley..Russel was outstanding, some of the crosses he put in were top draw, particularly the one at the end which Bryse should have nailed..agree about Sammon though couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo that one, and Ward is to light weight and can't beat a man..the jury's out though.
Ricky but did we put any ov the crosses away He put in?

AJ, Derby deserved nothing from the game yesterday. Yes Wigan were physical and at times dirty and perhaps lucky to have 11 players on the pitch. However, they bossed the game and purely on clear openings should have been out of site.
They came with a game plan and it worked, they pressed us and closed us down quickly.
It's now up to SM to pick the players up and start again. The run was always going to end but don't try to kid yourself that we were cheated because we were made to look poor by Wigan.
I was not at Barnsley Ricky, but I do accept Russell put some good balls in - albeit, as Wassa says, to no effect.
Commenting on the Wigan game and Derby's forward line inability to control the ball if an opposition defender is within 5 yards of them. That isn't good enough and is a basic skill.
I don't think Russell is a bad player, but is he good enough for Derby.?? Good enough for the Prem ? I'd say definately not.
JCB has obviously been bought in to replace / put pressure on someone. All fingers would probably point to Sammon, but I wouldn't be surprised if one or two others are starting to sweat a bit.
C stander,
Have to disagree. I don't think we were made to look poor by Wigan. They were poor and because were a footballing side and they aren't, a different game altogether was on show.
If good effective tactics are to foul the opposition constantly and waste time at every single opportunity, then the FIFA coaching manuals need re-writing.
29 fouls in the game 19 of them against Wigan. I'd like to know how long the ball was in play. Be surprised if it was more than 35 mins in total.
