India. Gutless, spineless group of player reliant on fading stars like Sachin and Laxman. There is very little talent coming through now and I reckon your team belongs in the second division of test cricket nations.

lose 4-0 and inida are down to 3rd. carry on like this against australia and you will be in the 2nd tier
We saw our problem out in India during the World Cup. We cant bowl on flat wickets. We were clueless and embarassing during the ODI World Cup.
It's all well and good bowling in great swinging conditions.
I want us to win a series out there before we start getting carried away. Being World Number One doesnt win you anything.
England played 17 test matches in the subcontinent in the past 10 years.
Won - 1
Lost - 7
Drawn - 9
England lost its last test series in West Indies, bowled out for 51 by Jerry Taylor.
This England team has matured since and looks quite balanced and confident. However, there is much to prove on the road to be considered a solid #1 like Waugh-led Aussie teams, and WI teams of the eighties.
The best thing about England gaining the No.1 status is the fact they took it off India...nuff-said really....
Poor old India, how the British weather has really let them down this time. They conquered last time despite England slaughtering them, 9 down in the second innings, plenty of time left and then the heavens opened. They think they won that series, but they didn't, not with regard to actual skills on the pitch. We have waited patiently and HEY PRESTO
This time round they have not been so lucky. 4:0 It's our time and I am loving every second of it.

ODI's have absolutely no bearing on our test form whatsoever.
To be fair, India won the second test at TB comfortably in 2007, thanks to Khan's 9-wicket haul.
First test at Lord's was dominated by England.
Final test at the Oval was dominated by India before it ended in a draw.
That was their series.
England is a better team now with all pieces well set.
India haven't lost the top spot because of one bad series, likewise England haven't won it in one series:
England's last 9 series:
Beat WI
Beat Aus
Drew SA
Beat Bangladesh
Beat Bangladesh again
Beat Pakistan
Beat Aus
Beat Sri Lanka
Beat India.
Won 19 lost 4 drew 7.
OK, maybe playing India in India will be difficult - but the rankings are not on one series. So just because India can beat us in India does not make them number 1.
Actually, England will lose #1 ranking if they lose one test series, and at the same time, the #2 or #3 ranked team wins a test series.
It's like having a 2-stroke lead going to the 18th. Leader has a bogie, and second-place player has a birdie, it's even now.
