I was pleased to see the old Bosingwa and Torres.
We should have won that game though, if not for the superb saves from their keeper.
Like you said...with the addition of Modric (probably) and a left winger, I think we should be absolutely fine...and even challenge Mutd for the title.
bubbles....................................good to see you playing catch up after only one game. Your team is too old now & will struggle later in the year.
PS: Modric stays with us!!
Bubble...
I think your comment about Carlo is unfair, especially as he never lost to Stoke while he was manager.
But I agree with everything else you wrote. This was a miles better performance than what we were seeing under Carlo last season.
Find it hilarious how we are getting written off based on one game.
Pundits, rival fans and even some of our own aint giving us a chance, judging by last season with Porto everyone is seriously under-estimating Andre here.
Had it not been for Begovic and Halsey we would have won 3-0 and imho it would have been the performance of the weekend, not many teams are going to escape from the Brit with 3 points this season and i hope United go there before De Gea settles.
As for that "playing catch up" comment got to go down as one of the most fickle comments on 606 ever, Barca were playing "catch up" after 2 games last season after losing to Hercules, Utd were playing "catch up" straight away for 2 season's on the trot after drawing to Reading then Newcastle, stupid comment.
Picture that team as they played today with modric and hazard and i see a team of world beaters with incredible depth. The home grown rule won't even affect us. And i don't see us needing any other major signings in the near future if we get those two.
Bubbles..
''with modric and a winger on their way''
you are actually inviting Don here!!
Modric stays with us!!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Where will he stay? In the Paxton End watching your team slip to mid table obscurity.
We will challenge united for title. Spurs will challenge for carling cup
why are some of you throwing the towel in already !!
give avb time to find his feet
torres played well today, stoke is not an easy place to go.
yes united won today but there is along way to go yet
ps modric is a spurs player until levy says different.
Biggish
What I meant was that under Carlo there were so many occasions where we played well away from home and lost. This game today reminded me of Birmingham away last year.
GeniusGreaves
Playing catch up with who? The only teams that won this weekend were Wolves, United and Bolton.
Both the teams that will contest the top 5 drew and City are yet to play, we are still in a good position
Why do you think Chelsea will beat United to the Title next season? If you are hoping AVB will bring in new youth next season to replace the older players, why are you putting faith in them already to win next seasons Title?
However if you are confident the current crop of Chelsea players will win the PL NEXT season, why are you confident of that?
Either way I do not understand your confidence for next season already.
bubbles............................I refer you to your comment about us yesterday???
Saying we were playing catch up, well you are two points adrift after only one game.
And what do you mean by both the teams????
Are you so arrogant as well as stupid by writing us off??
I think we will do better than you guys this season, your team is looking ponderous and slow, you need at least 5 new players and guess what, Modric is not one of them!
Tommy99.......................................playing catch up was a tongue in cheek response to bubbles who spends most of his time on the Spurs board and made the same comment about us.
Mind you, think the nerves are touchy.............
I only read a few lines of the OPs article and that was enough to give me a perspective of the game which since now has surpassed me. We dint get the result we wanted or deserved, but at least we tried and put in more effort than we are used to seeing.
HOWEVER!!!!
I don't buy it 100% entirely as its the first game of the season so everyone is fresh and looking to impress. The jury will be out come winter time when we can really see who is putting in the effort.
every one is praising man utd...but to be honest i was not all that impressed with their showing today ...infact i think we were better then united in certain aspects of the game against a match stiffer opposition then stoke....also da gea gives me hope that united will slip up more then once this season .....many people are backing united to win a straight forward 20th league title but i dont think it is that simple and for all those writing our chances off after just one game...5 games into the season if you dont have your opinions changed do let me know!!
*against a match stiffer opposition then west brom*
Chelsea,as a unit, played well today and on another day would have won, especially with one of those sure penalty claims given.
First game and with the likes of Sturridge,Luiz and Josh to feature, the future is bright for Chelsea.
Keep the faith

End of the day United got the 3pts and we never. What makes it even more significant is they got the 3pts while playing well in your opinion , not too well (champions performance).
I also think De Gea is a decent goal keeper and will only get better. He was never going to fill VDS boots in his first season at least!

exatcly my point...van der sar won united 12 to 15 points a season for united by himself.. in my opinion da gea is not going to do that for man united!!

Because this isn't AVB's squad, arguably it isn't even Carlo's or even Scolari's. It will take time for AVB to get the personnel he wants and get his ideas across.
Lampard isn't a player that AVB would want in his midfield.
Defence and GK are fine, AVB won't make too many changes but I'm willing to bet both Malouda and Anelka are not the sort of players AVB would want. Ramires, Torres, Drogba and probably Mikel are the only first teamers that he would ideally want exc defence and GK.

It was a joke made in jest
When Chelsea bought Torres I was really worried.
Drogba Torres Parthnership could have steamrolled the league. Now it looks like one at a time, is this tag team wrestling or something? What do you mean those two cant play together, havent any of your technical staff heard of 4-4-2?
Screen
We don't have the players to play 4-4-2.
When we had Makalele, Robben and Duff in my eyes that was the most dynamic Chelsea team we had as it meant we could deploy any system of our choosing.
We have no natural wide players or anyone that can pick out a pass which means we don't have the option of being as expansive as say Spurs or United for instance.
Bubbles..............................as mine was!!! Lol
Guys............................unfortunately you are still playing the same as when "The Special One" was in charge, i.e. 4-3-3 and until you get rid of the old guard, it will be ever thus!!!
@ Bubbles - The OS - Original Surfer - 30 days are Over! (U7929)
then u should be looking to buy wingers. Why spend 40m+ on modric to supply torres when torres play only half of the games. imo Drobga is a better player and keeping him on the bench is a an absolute waste.
