do you get invited to watch Uniteds training sessions at Carrington. You seem to know exactly what goes on in them. I thought they were done behind closed doors.

I'm just going by what Sir Alex says in his book as well as these words from Phelan..
http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/26/sir-alex-ferguson-wasnt-the-real-manager-at-manchester-united-i-was-says-mike-phelan-4202870/
I have a very good idea myself, personally

Go on then, enlighten us....
Name me one thing that Phelan did better than Round.
One thing, without conjecture or speculation.
You haven't a single clue pal, none of us do. You know it, I know it, we all know it.
But if you wanna sound important, be my guest.
Name me one thing that Phelan did better than Round.

Ths may well be total conjecture, but I bet it isn't far off.
I imagine he commanded more respect from the players.

Wow, you want to just get rid of 30% of the players because you hope Moyes has what it takes at the club?
---------------------------
I mentioned 2 players.... Rio and Evra.
Back to school, fella. Either learn to read or learn to do maths
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You also mentioned the experienced players and the heartbeat of the dressing room.
If you think only Evra and Rio make up this clique you are a moron.
Ferguson also said in his book that he had given guarantees to RVP and Kagawa when he signed the that he wouldn't be retiring soon.
Given that, it isn't really that big a jump to think there may be some disharmony in the squad, exacerbated by not just the departure of Ferguson but three very well liked members of his staff.
Signed them, that should say

Judging from whats happening during a match
Phelan used to barked out instructions to the players
He also had many discussions with SAF during the match, May be regarding players, maybe regarding tactics, he had an input
All Round does is sit in the dug out, whats the point of being a ass manager if he is going to sulk all match.
Here is Rounds bio.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Round
One can perhaps imagine the likes of Patrice saying "who the f is this telling us what to do".
Melton
But Moyes was brought in to rebuild the squad over a few year period. Given the stuff Phelan was saying about basically being our defacto manager you can understand Moyes feeling that his authority would be challenged by having someone there who had been acting as manager for a few years past?
Even if some of the squad are not quite impressed by Moyes, luckily for DM, a lot of these players are leaving anyway this summer and eventually as each season goes by, new players will come in and it will be a David Moyes squad rather than right now being a Sir Alex one.
VC,
I imagine evra may have already been pi55ed off with the public chasing of Baines.
Park
Well then are not all as clueless as you a Rob are about football coaching then. I dont mean that in an insulting way btw. You admit you are clueless. I am just telling you that I am not. (Try not to make your reply personal).
Firstly I will say that Phelan has contributed to coaching a multi-trophy winning team. Round hasnt. That is one thing that Phelan has done better than Round... as you are asking

He is a profesional footballer Melts. He shouldn't be. You have to have competition for every place.
Heinze had the same attitude when we signed Evra.
Robb,
I actually said that Moyes should have gone further with his culling when he did it and got rid of some of the playing staff in the summer too, instead of just the halfway house.
I sad at the time, it was a mistake but the right mistake to make as it was starting to change the club away from it being Fergusons people everywhere. His real mistake for me was not going far enough and looking for continuity in the wrong places.
All my point was making was that thereby well be some truth to there being disharmony in the squad, it certainly isn't far fetched and probably to be expected.
I know VC, but the Gallic personality I'm him, I'm sure, didn't react to it that way!

Phelan was also coach when we didn't get out of our CL group.
Round was coach when we walked our CL group playing some incredible football at times.
I agree that the players probably don't respect Round as much as they did Phelan but respect is earnt and there is plenty of time for these coaches to earn the respect of the players, especially new players who come in and will never have worked under Phelan.
On a side note, do you think the Fulham players respected Rene when his team lost 6-0 at Hull?
There may well, that should say
"On a side note, do you think the Fulham players respected Rene when his team lost 6-0 at Hull?"
Given the reaction, yes. Compare that to West Hams reaction to being thrashed by Forest.

I was gonna do an article about that later based on a piece I read last night.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2536074/Manchester-United-underestimate-Alex-Fergusons-influence-look-Liverpools-demise-Kenny-Dalglish.html
The piece contains Sir Alex talking about the mistakes Souness made in breaking up a winning team too fast. There's no doubt in my mind at all that the reason we held on to a lot of the ageing players this past summer was to avoid doing a 'Souness' to this squad.
Moyes is an evolution rather than revolution guy and with Sir Alex's input he'll know which players to keep and which to jettison.
Given the reaction, yes. Compare that to West Hams reaction to being thrashed by Forest.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I thought West Ham were unlucky last night. With a couple of ref decisions going the Hammers way they could have walked out of there with a 2-1 win.

ok...Do you think United players respected Fergie when he lost 1-6 to City or Arsenal with Wenger when they lost 8-2 to United.

What big team coaching experience did DiMatteo have before Chelsea? And he walked in there and won his team the CL.
Neville and Giggs are very much as respected at United as DiMatteo was at Chelsea so there isn't only one way to gain respect.
But when DiMatteo took over Chelsea he visibly improved their lot in the 6 months he was there
Moyes and his coaching team in the same period of time so far have visibly reduced our lot.
In tandem with what martinez and his coaching staff have done at Everton it makes me deduce that Round and Co might not be the coaching gurus you are claiming they are
