Lamela is essentially a kid.
Same with Eriksen.
Good point Edin - I imagine we have one of the youngest squads in the prem.
Don't really know enough about most of them, but when are we going to produce/find a gem who looks to be near first-team potential whilst still in their teens?
Ceballos is not being played that often at Arouca by some accounts.
Veljkovic may be the next one from the Academy to feature in senior games (Europa perhaps - depends on the squad quotas come Feb 1) .
Pritchard may be moved from Swindon to the league below based on form this season (as some have said - perhaps 6 months late) .
Me either, Take Carroll, Kane, or Pritchard for example, they are all in the England youth set up but can barely get a game for a decent Championship side
According to a certain like poster on the other side, Livermore has recently bought a house near Hull's training ground. Make of that what you will.
I guess it all helps to showcase why England aren't producing enough talent - the youngsters don't end up playing in decent football games until their in their early 20's. Too much pressure to win the Premier League
Yes, 4th ban beckons bestest Internet fwend did say that about Livermore.
Huddlestone's Afro
What about Fredericks? I was very impressed with him in the one game I have seen him play.
Yes but if these youths were good enough they'd showcase their talents somewhere on loan when they were 18/19, the parent club would see they were the real deal instead of hype and play them.
Plenty of youngsters go out on loan to the championship etc and don't even do the business there when in theory they should be starring in it

Good call Sandy I've only seen him play in one game but he looked strong, quick, and confident.
If we loan a player out it should be on condition they play. No play, no stay!!

Fair point. If they're good enough I'm sure the scouts and coaches would bang on the managers door!
I liked that under AVB all ages played the same tactics but other than that there never seems to be much of a plan.
Genius.
Whenever I look into the youth stats for our loanees it's rare to find anyone with a decent run of games in a season.
The expectation is too high that reams of precocious talent like Rooney should be emerging from PL academies.
It just doesn't happen.
True enough. Even Barca - arguably the best in Europe at producing youth - have a low success rate.
I guess the difference there is that even playing in Barca B is a high standard.
I think the U21 and U18 leagues in England were a good step towards getting some good playing time
Barca (as for some other clubs) can at least say that the core technical ability of their academy charges is high. What might be seen as "wow" to England watchers is most likely quite "meh" to them.
One of the things I liked when watching Spurs in the 2011-12 Nextgen was the fact we were not playing a 'typical' English game, in style of play nor physique of players. Some of the games you would have been hard pressed to know Spurs were the English side.
Not expecting all of them to be hits, but take Townsend for example. Went out on loan 9 times before he made a breakthrough towards the first team - aged 21/22. That's a lot of time trying to prove yourself and from what I understand not all of those loans were successful
We don't expect a Bale a season coming thru the ranks.
But 1-2 competent squad players per season, who will have a decent term in the seniors, is not too much to demand.
Yes that's my point. An example would be man united where players like fletcher and Evans have come through in the last several years (not part of the '92 generation). Not world beaters but have definitely added to the squad and saved them X amount of money on going out to sign someone.
