honestliverpool, I saw a bit of him in the youth teams for you back when I had enough time to watch youth football regularly. I preferred the way Suso did things. It's hard to put my finger on it but he certainly had that special touch that Sterling didn't. Similar to Pogba who devastated Arsenal from the right wing a few years back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I also thought Suso was the more talented player in the youth team, but Sterling has coped with transition into the PL. Some players look like world beaters at youth level yet couldn't make it in the premier league. Sterling has outperformed the likes of Coutinho at Liverpool this season and has been very good since Sturridge got injured. He was our MOTM vs Chelsea and is yet to have a bad game this season. He's also keeping Moses out of the team and many would actually like to see him start ahead of Coutinho to accommodate Sturridge.

You are describing Arsenal business model and comparing it with our model. Are we obliged to follow your model?
Regardless, you have just stated that you BOUGHT young players while we bought older players. Common theme is we both "bought". Now, how can you defend your buying model and criticise another?
That's what I am trying to get my head around

this is a wind up isn't it?

To be fair, all players are "Bought" from somewhere.

Its not like PL teams have Pregnant mothers just waiting at the training ground so they can claim they are 100% home grown.

Also from the top of my head all the followign are Arsenal Youth Products.

Szezney, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Wilshere, Ramsey, Bendtner (lol), Walcott, Oxlade.

Not bad if i say so myself.
------------------------------------------------------------
Boss, your list is way off mark.
Only 2 players on that list came through your academy. The rest, you bought with MONEY.

Idiot. The term 'buying the league' refers to the fact that players only sign for you because of money. Theres no prestige or reputations involved.

I am of the opinion that we all are, I'm afraid to say. I'm not sure what this poster is playing at in all honesty.

As you've been told numerous times, most clubs buy players with money they have generated through years of hard work, and financial restraints, and only buy players they can afford without putting their club into administration. Your team haven't had to do that. If you was making loads of money each year as a club and spent some of that money you generated on players, no-one would say anything, but you've won the lottery and are now in the mix due to that.

Just to go back to your original question. Could you tell me what you consider to be a youth product? Are Academy appearances a pre-requisite for example? Just curious as to how you would dfine a youth product.

Can't argue with that I suppose. I can't confess to having seen all too much of Sterling this season. Don't write off Suso though, he's doing exceptionally well in Spain. I mean his dribbling is extraordinary. I still believe he'll be seen as the greater player eventually.

So OP you're saying you didn't buy Boyata from Brussels? (I don't actually know if you did but know he came from there). Also, yes every club spends but not every club is bankrolled by the richest people on the planet and able to offer obscene amounts of money to purchase the player and also keep them happy. Have some perspective please OP and stop being a tool

Is this the official definition or you just made this up?
Cos no one ever mentioned this so far.
And try to avoid throwing insults around. Its a mark of childishness.

Just a bit of common sense and an understanding of the subject I care to discuss. That is all.

Wow, controversial article. I'm sure you are being sincere OP? You must realise that your club has no class right?

I also think he'll eventually turn into a very good player, but I think Sterling is outperforming him atm.

I'm just surprised that Henry Norris hasn't been brought up yet, that seems to be the go-to argument for City and Chelsea fans that I have debated with, on this particular issue.

Even a lot of Barca players were bought from another club, the OP is just making up his own rules to try and prove that Man city didn't bankroll their way to the title

I would say yes to your example. Hence I excluded Joe Hart from our youth product later on.
But it seems my point is fallen on deaf ears so far. Only City and Chelsea buy the League. Even though most 1st team players for other clubs were bought too.

These 2 l'pool fans talking about their players in the middle of this big debate is making me laugh.

It's cool if Man City are trying to be the Real Madrid of England, you pay offensive amounts of money for players that's fine. Just don't talk nonsense about not buying the league. That's just moronic.
