Lots of gibberish from Moyes in the press lately very strange.
United are the bigger fan wise by a mile !
Success and sunnier climes and attraction, Madrid are at the moment. For 40 years wherever I have been around this globe United supporters are everywhere, through our darkest times to our last 20 years of success. People not connected to the club just don't realise how big they are. I have watched United games in every continent in packed bars full of locals supporting them. We should conquer India too whilst we are at it !!

I think Real are the biggest by a mile. United are as big as anyone outside of Real. In terms of support base, trophies and being recognised that's undeniable. I woukd place Liverpool, Bayern and Barca in that grouo too

it should help when it comes to paying for their replacements
some of his quotes make him sound like an idiot.
he doesn't think the aura is slipping... he thinks its the opposite.... so dropping to 7th, having a shocking home record, getting knocked out of the cup, playing some of the worst football since Dave Sexton was in charge.... and he thinks it makes teams fear us more
and why hasn't he bothered his ar$e signing some of these players who are busting to play for us?
he'd be better saying nothing at all
Forget money and all the rest, i'd say Madrid, they are the biggest draw for most players who generally regard playing for Madrid as the pinnacle of a footballers career.

but the fan stats are severely flawed because 90% of the 'fans' (on the global, 100s of millions numbers) aren't really fans and just answering on name recognition or recent winners. They'll come and go with the wind of recent success.
I disagree because you have to look at other factors apart from the reported fan-base of 600 million we have. Most players if given the chance of playing for either Manchester United or Real Madrid, will always pick Real. The thing that annoys me the most about the 'biggest club in the world' tag is that we are unable to attract the BEST players in the world and the one time we actually had a chance of getting them we ended up signing Obertan, Owen and Valencia
Kaisers is correct. Casual fans distort the actual fanbase. United are a massive club, one of the biggest in the world. But it's due to success, recognisability and commercial value. We aren't as big as Real. But we are definitely as big as anybody else
As a money making exercise we are right up the but on the field Madrid are light years ahead, they put their money where their mouth is.

Nope. Top 3 along with Real and Barca
United (or any other English club for that matter) will never be the first choice for the very best South American and southern European players.
Barca and Real Madrid are the ultimate destination for players from those regions (players who very often are the world's elite players).

yes we are the Biggest club in the world. We dont win everything. Sometimes we can go long times with out winning much... we went 26 years without winning the league ( won a few FA Cups which was a bigger deal that the league in them days) but during that period we were still the biggest club in the world.
