There are no managers available or otherwise who could get this useless, lazy, half-witted bunch of abject morons to look even semi bothered about the club that pay them good money.
We've just lost £5 million quid out of the £50 million loss last year sacking Owen Coyle and his band of merry men - we can't afford to sack Freedman and Phil Gartside won't. No amount of moaning on the internet is going to change his mind.
Of course we need a need a new striker as well as a left back, (which he's stated he wanted well before this striker news), if we score goals when we actually do play well there's less of a panic later on which often leads to our downfall.
I don't mind him slagging off the players in public. In fact it's about blooming time their boss said the things we're all saying about them. If they don't like it they can pay their own contract up and leave and we'll get someone else who wants to play.
While those managers may be available I cant see any of them being willing to take the job on. Mackay and Clarke will probably wait for a Prem or top Championship job while living off their payoffs. Hoddle, while we would be a good project for him, I just cant see him being willing to come this far north for starters let alone having to work with pennies.
Neil Warnock would probably take it on, but only in the short term, and would we really want him?
You then start looking at the lower leagues for current managers having some success. The likes of Karl Robinson, but he has no experience above League 1, it would again be a gamble.
I posted an article a few months back looking at our options and looked on the basis that the only managers who would probably take it would be former players. Before his tragic death, Gary Speed would have been my ideal choice. Now, there are very few former players in management. Phil Brown has managed at this level and got Hull promoted, but has since declined, fining himself at Southend and doing fairly well, but that's League 2!
If we do sack Dougie, I am struggling to think of a realistic option that I would be in favour of.

GG. If Spurs can promote Tim Sherwood to manager of their 1st team, then we have the personnel within the club that can be utilised. We have the experience of LSL and the hunger of coaches like David Lee and Jimmy Philips. I would let all 3 caretake until the Summer and see how the ground lies.
All I know is the current manager keeps slagging off his players and then picking them again for the next weekend! I mean who would want to perform for such a moron? If DF dropped the poorly performing players and played some kid in the position and we still lost; at least we could see that he is giving the kids some experience and trying to change things! Currently, DF (who can only see himself being the next Ferguson by continuing this squad rotation) drops players who perform well in favour of players who he openly criticises.
- Medo played a blinder in the cup and then dropped
- Beckford scores also in the cup and then is dropped
- We finally have a settled CB partnership in Ream and Mills and then splits them up to put Ream at LB which he is crap at and play Knight in the middle!
I mean I could go on and on and on! All these constantly strange decisions has left me totally against him and any manager who suffers a 7-1 reverse without getting a player sent off needs to be shown the door asap. What was said when OC was in charge.....yes..'Its a result business and its as simple as that and he's not good enough'. Time is up, but even I know that not only are we a laughing stock with the result, we are more so as we will keep the prat employed!
Cheers MT. Happy to admit when I was wrong. It's what I thought had happened.
Malky Mackay
Steve Clarke
Glen Hoddle
None of these are going to touch Bolton with a barge pole. Rubbish players and no money to replace them. Poison chalice comes to mind. Malkay Mackay with no money and these players equals DF.
Cheers Cravies...
Personally I'd go against what I wanted last time.. I'd give Jimmy the gig til the summer.. Steady the ship and prepare for the 2014/15 season and see who's available in the summer
Steadying the ship means moving out and improving. If they are not backing the manager to do that then IMO what's the point in throwing £3m plus away on sacking DF. He has spent less than that on transfers. It seems a mad policy to chop and change after two windows and low funds. Saturday was awful and things have to be worked on. For me, much more than last time DF inherited a mess that would take time to sort. Part of that time included the harsh reality of how far we had fallen under Coyle. We have to accept that managers and that's good managers won't want the challenge of turning us round. There are not the resources to do it quickly. We were 18th when DF came in and today we sit there. Yes that's no progress. Yet look at his starting 11. Littered with players who failed or were bought by his predecessor. He has not been able to make wholesale changes a new manager would expect. Yes, he has altered things but we were dropping like a stone when he came in from FA cup semi final and 8th in the Premier League to 18th in Championship in 18th months. Wolves faced the same fate and brought in Saunders then dropping again. The fans baying for the managers blood every 12 months doesn't help. Why on earth come to Bolton?
I have said before I am fully aware that DF has to improve. If he goes then we move on. He leaves us where he found us. However a new manager will not be able to pay the fees or wages Megson or Coyle were permitted. No £3m Sordells bench warming have been overpaid with wages and fees. That's why we have to allow time to him. Seven- one thumpings are hard to take. So are 5-0 defeats at Wembley. Right or wrong that result was rewarded with time rightly or wrongly.
Transition with little finance takes years, tears and guts.
You've kind of answered the reasons for him to go then given him excuses... The squad has got to one goal from the play offs and he's not used that squad correctly in my opinion. It's the thought process each of us has.... I think the squad with a good head coach, would be higher.
Pre Reading, DF said "I still feel if we can get a run going, we are very capable"
Post Match "They are not good enough and anyone can see that"
The guy isn't good enough, too big a club, too soon...
I don't want to bring up the finance position, i heard a report a week ago where PG says he is not worried about £168m debt (Allbeit to big Ed), that just about says it all!!
On the pitch we are too inconsistent & he (DF) is a tinkerman, he does not give any confidence at all, i don't listen to his ramblings because its all the same.
We clearly need to unload some dead wood of which we have quite a bit, to allow him to freshen up. It aint going to happen so get shut now & put JP in charge, with David Lee & LSL.

DF has never played 4-3-3 in his life. I have never read so much carp in 21 years of being on BWFC forums!!
I use the 442 as a formation that I believe we can be comfortable with... I'm not saying for 46 games you have Eagles and Hall bombing down the wing... I'm saying that you have players who know their position and formation to add stability and simplicity.... Games away you can go 442 with say Mark Davies or Danns sitting on the side to whip balls in... The formation is the template for the team....
Every week we have no idea about formation, 1 or 2 holding midfielders, which side is Eagles on, why is Medo out after a motm performance the last time out....
Even if you choose not to go 442, you go with a system we all know and so do the players.... The 'Campo' role was easy, the two supporting SKD.... I just want a bloody system and players to keep their shirt.....
What the hell was Dougie on about last week!!! He said he was gonna tell a striker he's starting 6 games and playing 90 mins to help his game!!! What in gods name is that rubbish!!!!!!! What if the game dictates a change or a players form is terrible.... He's showing to be an absolute amateur of the game!!!
21 years of BWFC forums!!! Must have been a lonely place 21 years ago before the net!

Sorry but it is. Whether it's an attacking 433 like Liverpool's or a less attacking one like Chelsea's. It is still 433.

I agree his unwillingness to settle on a team baffles me and probably the players. Although I am hoping he is learning his trade and eventually adapts. If he won't he won't last much longer.
Learning his trade? Should he not be looking at a settled team by now?
Maybe your are right. However many people didn't want an experienced manager like Bruce.
In terms of the past, we can't change it. No point blaming anyone on here, we only offer opinions. The men paid to do that have gone down the line of novices in Sammy Lee, Owen Coyle and Dougie Freedman, sandwiched with a man no one wanted before his appointment!!!!!
So we look forward..... Yes, experience would be great, but I go back to my view the man picking them needs replacing.... Lose Gartside...
Not sure why Malky is dismissed. He took over Cardiff when they had about 9 professionals and all sorts of behind scenes nightmares!!! Saying that he's prem bound.....
The only man I would pay over the odds for at Bolton Wanderers football club is Tony Pulis. As far as I know he has never been relegated, would take us to the Prem and have us top half within two years.
I watched him blow Coyle out of the water at Wembley. It wouldn't be pretty but boy would it be entertaining!?
Pulis was my choice when megson went although we probably would have had no chance of getting him at the time. He was also my choice if freedman had been sacked after the awful start to the season. That boat has now sailed now he is at palace.
Word has it, the Palace hierarchy are messing him about. They will fall into when he keeps Palace up though?
