Any ban for Anelka is ridiculous... and I wonder if it had been an English player, or a non-Muslim, if it would have been treated differently.
Would the link to any form of politics be assumed?
He should be able to celebrate however he likes. If he incites violence or offends people then the police should charge him. Football authorities should stick to football matters.
If the FA ban Anelka they are showing themselves to be racist.
The gesture is an antizionist gesture not an antisemitic gesture. Showing solidarity with Palestinians who have had their land stolen by Zionists and are forced to live in an apartheid state should not be considered racist. The Zionists always claim that anyone who is antizionist is antisemitic which is not the case. The FA have been convinced otherwise by people in the Zionist cause.

You took the words right out of mouth but wtf is this to do with WBA? My club will pay a dear price for this nonsense.
I am not sure how "innocent" Anelka is in all this but it ill behoves a black man with all the prejudice they have, and continue to encounter in the world to be involved in a row involving, in any way shape or form, discrimination against the Jews. I don't blame Zoopla for pulling out and I do agree with you that the Palestinians are more sinned against than sinning.
Quite frankly, I for one wouldn't have had a clue what the so called 'salute' was supposed to mean even if Anelka had stood on my foot and done it.
I would suggest that would also have been the opinion of 95% of the British population and now the media have jumped onto what was a virtually non-existant band waggon and all this cràp about Zionists, Anti-Semetic, Racism etc etc etc is just exacerbating the issue.
It seems to me that in these crazy politically correct days, one cannot say or do anything without being accused of whatever.
Whatever happened to free speech and opinion !
It is a shame it has a negative effect on the club, and I can understand them asking him not to do it again given the controversy it has caused.
However the fundamental point remains - punishment of this is ridiculous.
If people read into gestures more than is there then whose fault is that? We will be banning celebrations soon!
Exactement my dear Monsieur Mortimer....
Celebration of any form will be banned as it will be suggested that it will offend someone !
What a shed load of bowlocks !

Do you understand the difference between anti zionismand anti semitism?
I'll educate you. One is opposing a political concept and the other is opposing a race of people. One is against racism whilst the other is flat out racism.
You from the Gambia, Mandingo ?
Wasn't there 'Mandingo' warriors in West Africa? Seem to have a recollection of the tribal name in the series Roots.
Or was that Mandinka Warriors.....
If anyone is pro-zionism and/or pro-Israel and they take offence to a hand gesture that Anelka made and start calling him racist, should really take a hard long look in the mirror.

Let me educate you...the gesture that Anelka made was supposedly "anti-establishment",from his friend,a comedian. His whole act is based around the fact that Jews ARE the establishment and has now been banned by the French Government as anti Semitic.
Do you get it now?

Interesting viewpoint from a prominent French Jew:

Blue, so you agree that the gesture is therefore anti establishment. Good thing Anelka did it at West Ham and not M'bala.
I suggest you read the excellent link cox posted. But hey, some people are professional victims.
Mandumbo
I have no idea where M'bala is,you obviously have no more relevant facts to present,I bid you goodnight my friend!
M'bala's Anelka's friend you fool!
Surely only Anelka knows exactly what he meant by the gesture.
What concerns me is that the majority of the ill feeling towards this gesture came from France.
This is the same country who feel it is wrong for a journalist to print a story about the President allegedly having an affair.
If that had happened in the UK there would be a full enquiry because the PM shouldn't even b associated with this and as a nation we feel an affair is wrong. In France it doesn't appear to have the same relevance.
I feel this is the whole point of the anelka episode, some will b offended, others don't give a damn.
Should Anelka really b banned for a gesture that the majority know nothing about?
It really depends on what Anelka meant by the gesture and only he knows.
