If Mata is played outwide in that formation you proposed, we'd be better off sticking with Nani.
However if he's not played on the wing and allowed to play centrally he'll be fantastic for us.
I know most Utd fans will disagree, but i just cant see Moyes convincing Mata to join Utd.
However if Chelsea accept the offer and they are no other suitors, then its not impossible.
But i can just imagine, a club like PSG, Man City etc coming in last min, with a larger offer that Utd cant match and Chelsea cant refuse
That's what im for hoping anyway
So you're hoping that City come in for him? How strange. Surely you'd have even less chance of winning the title.
The jealousy towards England's biggest and most successful club holds no bounds.

Almost as strange as Utd fans preferring City to win the title over Arsenal?!?
Like you wrote, at least i have a reason for being jealous of Utd.
What viable reason does any Utd fan have for preferring Cty to win the title?!?
The best team will inevitably win the title, and if its City, then good luck to them

Isn't this year your best shot at winning the league for ages? I'd guess United and Chelsea will be stronger next year. This could be Wenger's last big shot at it. Careful what you wish for.
No real Utd fan would ever want City to win the title before Arsenal. Not a single one. If they do, they aren't real Utd fans.
Chelsea or Arsenal winning it for me every day of the week before the bitters and the dippers.
cant stand arsenal winning the title
I know most Utd fans will disagree, but i just cant see Moyes convincing Mata to join Utd.
-------------------------------------
I don't really get this point of view.... Mata himself was part of a team that finished 6th in the league.
He will know that teams can bounce back pretty damn quickly.
Sure, they won the CL that year, but I think they would have still attracted top players and finished top 4 the next season, regardless.
And before you say "yea, but this is Moyes".... Well, that was AVB and then Di Mateo.... Hardly natural born winners either.
cant stand arsenal winning the title
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't stand anyone but us winning it. But it's easy choice. Arsenal or City then it's Arsenal everyday of the week.
I suppose the Utd fans who live 100 miles + away from manchester might see it differently I suppose though as they won't know many bitters.
I work with them. Some of my extended family are City fans. And some of my closest mates.

Fair point, but it all depends on Mata's options, if Utd are the only club in for him, then i see no reason why he wont join Utd.
But if PSG, Althetico Madrid or even City were interested, a manager like Moyes wont be able to convince Mata to over look the other teams and join Utd
We're a much bigger club than all those 3 clubs. Always will be.

Whether you choose to believe it or not, no manager in world football will ever make Utd the dominant force in English football like SAF did, especially with the budgets of teams like City & Chelsea.
At Arsenal, we have been fighting with the big spenders on a smaller budget since we moved to the Emirates and have always made Top 4, we'll be fine as long as Wengers in charge, when he leaves, we'll be well and truly fecked
Has anyone thought we might be pushing Rooney up to a number 9 position?
----------------------------------------------
S_E85 asked this. Imo that will be the best option assuming rooney wants to stay. But what happens when RVP is fit? Something as to give.
As controversial as it may sound if we were only able to have only 2 of rooney/rvp/mata, who would you have?

I'll certainly never celebrate city winning the title. But somehow it didn't hurt as much as expected when they did in 2012. I guess it is a lot to do with watching their fortunes - usually painful, often slapstick - over the years at close quarters. I remember living near Maine Road during the season they were relegated a second year running, watching the fans walking past my front door in a state of despair us lot have never known.
They were more like the annoying little brother than the sworn enemy to me. There has certainly never been the level of gut animosity that Liverpool or Leeds inspire.

That may be right. It may be wrong if FFP comes into force or some zillionaire decides to buy United. Either way, we can be grateful for the good times while they lasted.
My only point was that you may be backing a position which could harm a very rare serious title challenge from Arsenal.

You say that now, and i know exactly how you feel as i used to like Chelsea.
But the more successful they got, the more cocky their fans got and for some reason Chelsea fans starting popping up everywhere.
Trust me the more successful City get, especially if Utd continue to struggle, the hate will grow
