It's no biggie..
=============================
Maybe not as regard this player as an individual, but it may turn out to be a biggie if we fail to get top 4 due to an ability to secure signings in an ever moving January transfer window, where you have to act fast, if you identify a player you want.

How can it not be the case? It's extremely obvious. Do you actually think that it's a coincidence that Chelsea made a bid shortly after we reportedly did?

It was fairly extensively written that Jose wouldn't sell Mata to us, and now it appears they're trying to stop us buying a player that would strengthen us. Like has been said, it wouldn't be the first time....

The evidence for this being the case is far stronger than the assumptions you appear to be relying on....
------------------------------------------------------------------

If that was the case why would we loan Moses to you?

Do you think Liverpool would actually spend or have the money to spend 37m on a player?

You actually think we've been strengthened by Moses He's been bloody awful, a masterstroke BT Jose.

So you think Chelseas transfer policy under Mourinho is based on waiting till the last minute, and then jumping in with a slightly better bid ?
As I said, with Mata about to join United, Salah fits the bill as a player to come in as support.
The Mata transfer has only gathered pace over the last 5 days, which explains the late move for Salah, which would never have been made, if Liverpool had tied up this deal a few weeks ago.

How can SWP career be a cautionary tale?! Talk about clutching at straws, the how interest in a player and subsequent transfer bares no relation to the success of a player

Moses!

Luckily his goal v Swansea got us a point.

He'll probably play v Bournemouth to be fair.

He'd be a decent signing for Bournemouth.

Does Mourinho wait to see who Liverpool bid for then check them out on Football Manager and hijack the bid? Or do you think Mourinho and his scouts were already aware of a player who scored twice against Chelsea in the CL and had him on a shortlist of players as possible targets to replace Mata and makes his move as Mata exits and in light of a rival bid?

Rumours are that Liverpool have now gone to £12million for Salah, with a further £2million set to follow in bonus payments.

I think al we will does match Liverpool's bid and leave the choice to him.

We can seriously do with someone like him, if Willian or Hazard get injured, we haven't really got a skilful pacey winger. Also we rotate a lot, so he will get game time. If Oscar gets injured, we just move Hazard to the middle and Salah to the left. He would actually be a perfect squad player for us.

I would say that Mourinho / Chelsea know about Salahs quality, and would try and stop a rival club getting him.

This is the reality of the situation.

When it became apparent that a rival club could get him, they've moved to try and stop this from happening.

It's unscrupulous as if Chelsea needed him they'd have bought him previously, but its their money and Salahs career, if they both think its the right move then so be it.

Until a couple of days ago nothing much was said about him, and now it's a disaster / master stroke, depending on which way you look at it.

Utter tosh.

There are far better players.

So you actually believe Chelsea have only been interested in Salah for 5 days? And you also think Chelsea only knew they would be selling Mata 5 days ago? You're talking as if Chelsea have a sell to buy policy, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Salah will regret moving to Chelsea..he is not a step up from Moses or Marin.

Rather we should call Thorgan back

Most likely we were interested in him, and interested in getting him in the summer. But now with Liverpool's strong interest and Mata gone, we might as well go for him now. Would we have still gone for him if Mata was still here? Possibly, depending on what other targets we had lined up.

Forgot about Marin, and T Hazard.

Having sold KDB and Mata we will only have Schurrle as backup for those three positions so I understand the logic of bringing in Salah. Especially as he is a good player.

I think we will more likely end up with Guarin as if Inter are really now trying to sell him for €10m (almost half what we almost paid earlier in the window).

But looks like we are trying for Salah. Would be a good option for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Too many options in the middle now?

Ramires, Guarin, Lampard, Mikel, Matic, MVG
(Romeau, Ake, Chalobah)

But then again could be Lampard's and Mikel's last season.

Didn't even include Essien, but I guess he is going to Milan.

Suddenly we are short of creativity and more midfielders <confused>

Further forward as cover I would assume.

I don't see Ramires or Guarin taking Willians place anytime soon. Which I guess would mean we don't have to go in for Salah.

We should go for both anyway, cheap enough, and with Essien, and possibly Lampard and Mikel going out, it'll still leave us in a good position. I'm not sure Lampard's going though.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you even read my post?

SWP was an extremely promising player. Apparently he had an opportunity to go to Arsenal where he would have played regularly, instead he choose a bit part role at Chelsea for 3 years.

His career stalled and he ended up at QPR. I know you're a Chelsea fan but can you honestly say that he (a) made the most of his potential; or (b) that he wouldn't have been better served at a club where he'd play regularly.
