Excuses and more excuses...

Not a fan of the excuses myself, but it's not time for the manager to go!!!

...and yet the team is losing ...

I thought they drew yesterday?

I wouldn't be surprised if BM 'walks' at this rate. If he does, there won't be a half decent manager to touch us with a bargepole at the moment.

No chance Brian would walk

Why would you give up a very well paid job

He shouldn't be sacked but people are far too easy on him

Poor excuse, we've been this bad all season.

LIW....
Totally agree with you....we have been sold crap over the last few years and we have been very "easy" on some managers and players.....it is time to be brutal...
If not good, replace them, players or manager

There will be always "someone" who will give 100% to play for LUFC or manage LUFC.....and guess what they could be cheap to recruit too

Why should he go?..

The crap around this club is the same as always, funny thing is first it was Rid your money Pete, then I'll drive them a bit futher around the bend Ken, and now some Bank workers that are trying to train the future British Premier!..

It all boils down to the old "we don't half get em" thing!..

Here's hoping the Italian don't get past the old let us down "fit and proper" thingy, but somehow I think an ex-employee off our club will make sure that will happen!..

I'm just at the thinking that this Italian might be good mates with our loving Ken!..

Oh well, whatever, this board will be the lively killing field it always has been!..

Hopefully things will get better before we all pass away eh?.

So which other manager would get us into the playoffs with this squad. All that would happen is a new manager would keep us around mid table for the rest of the season then have you trigger happy fans calling for a new manager in the summer.
We need stability, not a new manager every 12 to 18 months

posted on 29/1/14

I hope where not trying to say no other manager would have won a game in the last 8

We ain't won in the last 8

More chance of us going down than getting play offs

Signings have been garbage

It's pretty dreadfull to watch

His subs are rubbish

We have no pattern or style of play

But hey guys

That doesn't matter because Brian's a great guy

McD does not warrant sacking but he does need help! Physciatrist?Drugs?, Good Woman?, Good Man?,Divine Intervention?-No just some competent person to do the biz up at Thorp Arch & get the best out of a not too gifted set of players. Take over bit of smoke screen for him actually, biggest problems are what we see out on the park & absolute we knew from outset of season best we could hope for would be last play off place. Let tek over tek care of itself but whats happening on the park week in week out needs hands on sorting not necessarilly sack full of cash.

This is the worst Leeds squad in living memory, a consequence of a succession of average managers having had the handicap of poor financial support and any good players coming through having been sold off. Ross looks like he could well be the next one.

No decent manager worth his salt will take on the Leeds job. If BM goes, who do you think will come? Poyet? No. What we need now is for the ownership issue to be resolved. BM should keep his job until the end of the season by which time we'll know whether he has achieved his management objective i.e a top-half finish as set by the current owners. So far, he isn't far off. We won't go up, but we won't go down either.

Well that's a reassuringly good thought

Always wanted 'someone'

Any player taken on at any club should fight for the shirt he/she plays for!..

Thing is you get some that get to a club, people know they are good enough, but for reasons unknown to everybody but the players themselves they are crap!..

Maybe if they played for the clubs they supported you'd get that little lot more out of them, but playing for the shirt isn't the name of the game for most these days!..

But then, some of those players might be ones brought in by a mate to earn that cash they've been looking for all their lives and at the same time they're given a contract that professional footballers should have!..

Sometimes they take that needed player away, and at the same time make it difficult for the club to get rid off them!..

Roll on those contracts ending, and then maybe we'll see a bit better then we're seeing!..

But then and again, the Leeds United yearly takeover as usual comes along at exactly the right time!..

Warnock spent prob about same amount of money as Brian.

Warnock's record was shyyte. So is Brians (so far).

Warnock won promotion with other club, so did Brian.

I think Brian gets defended much more because he comes across as a nice guy.

posted on 29/1/14

No need to get rid of B McD.He looks as hacked off as the rest of us.As it's already been pointed out,who would take on the Leeds job under the present circumstances. This takeover fiasco will fall through and resurface again to take us all way through summer to start of next season. It's all too familiar now like Germany says.

Frank
Big difference:
Warnock failed miserably to achieve his first year target- promotion.
Brian looks like he's on course to achieve his- top 12

posted on 29/1/14

Peak

So in effect we could have finished 3rd but got beat in players and warnock would have been a failure

Brian could get us to 12th and he'd be a success

Makes perfect sense

posted on 29/1/14

Your missing the point LIW

I/we have expectations. I'm not happy with 12th spot anymore than you. The fact is that the targets for both Warnock and Brian were set by different owners. Brian's are achievable. Warnock's were unrealistic. On that basis, as in any other job, you are judged against your targets by those who set them. Brian looks on course to achieve his, so no grounds for the sack under the current regime. Warnock failed his by a massive margin, hence got the sack. Two different regimes, two different managers, two different targets.

posted on 29/1/14

Were warnock target set by the owners or himself

Just because a manager is set a lower target that means he's more of a success

posted on 29/1/14

It's all relative. He will be deemed to have been a success for this season by the current owners if he finishes in the top 12. Bates brought Warnock in to get promotion. Warnock talked the talk and only wanted a 12 month contract as he was that confident that his promotion number 8 was a cert. He couldn't walk the walk though. Whether he was shafted by Bates is another debate. GFH believe it will take 3 years to get promoted and top 12 was target for this year. I don't like that personally, but by their standards there are no grounds to dismiss Brian yet. He's doing the job they asked him to do- so far and they do the hiring and firing, not us the fans.

A new owner could move the goal posts though or simply decide they want their own man in. Uncertain times ahead methinks!

"I think Brian gets defended much more because he comes across as a nice guy."

The big difference for me is Warnock was a short term appointment, he made it all about himself, i.e. achieving his record 8th promotion, etc, and wouldn't commit long term. McDermott at least has an incentive to look long term, although the nature of football will see some short term decisions.

I wonder if some'll be happy if this Italian guy takes over, because wanting new managers every month seems the norm for him!..

A question, who thinks the right manager is in the British market that could do what they want doing and is free to do so?..

The way things have been around Elland Road the last number of years, I'd think we'd need a better manager then is within our reach!..

Next problem then, they'd expect more then our managers have been getting, and won't bet their lives they'd get us where we want to be!..

What we want and what we're getting are two complete different things!..

I read somewhere today that Warnock's league win percentage was around 31.5% and BM' s is currently 40%.

Also over the windows available he has spent less than NW.
