Apparently Mourinho already spent over £100m in less than 7 months.

Tbh it's quite a confusing article you've written. You seem to be saying, don't sign anyone as it's too much of a risk?

You say Draxler needs a preseason to make an impact and use Özil as an example of a player that hasn't reached his potential with us yet because he needs more time. Yet the general consensus is that signing Özil gave the squad a massive boost.

You also make out that people are whining now, but a couple of wins in our next two games and everyone will be dandy again. In other words, people are being fickle.

Yet you then go on to say how come the summer you want two strikers and a new midfielder. But you've stated in your article signing players is risky!

You've lost me, tbh.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What I'm saying is trust the manager and the players. Hardly any Jan signings have been game changers as soon as they sign.

I'm not saying that signing players is risky. Signing in Jan hardly has the galvanising effect or immediate impact. Players need time to bed down. If we sign now, good. If we don't, I'm not fussed. I trust the squad and manager.

In the summer I expect at least 2 signings. I dont expect 5 or 6 new players to come in. I wouldn't want that anyway.

They're not the best team in PL history.

Our 94,99 and 08 teame were better. Arsenal have had better teams too.

City have lost 4 times this season with 15 games still to go. They're very good with some tremendous players but they are far from the best the PL has seen.

Not hard to believe. That Spüd caaant Chronic wouldn't have it that Mourinho would've done a better job at Arsenal than Wenger.

Thick caaant.

What a stupid Mirror article again.

*Sorry, bit tired.

Chronic thought the moany one would've done a better job at Arsenal during the last ten years than Wenger.

For someone so obsessed with us, he really hasn't a clue how we operate.

Night.

The team was getting used to their manger hence the poor early results. I fully expect City to run through most teams from now on in. They are class. The only thing that can stop them is fixture congestion if they get passed Barca.

Azania, many people, myself included, will point to the importance of Reyes and Arshavin's signings in the January window.

Both players might have failed to sustain the form we would've hoped for, but it's can't be denied that the positive impact both players gave us helped to achieve success in the short term - Reyes, the league title, Arshavin a top 4 finish.

Galindo.

Campbell.

Inspiration from Wenger there.

And how good was he when he joined? It took him months to settle into the pace of our game. Santi settled immediately because he had a pre season.

Who Galindo?

posted on 30/1/14

Monreal was fine when he joined. Certainly way better than Santos - who signed in the summer.

No one is suggesting Draxler is the man to lead us to the title this season, however there is a genuine concern that not signing him now will mean it'll be harder to secure him at all.

As for other January signings, Adebayor, Walcott and Diaby all came in the same window. None of those players' failures had anything to with the time of year they were signed.

Conversely, Gervinho, Santos, Silvestre, Park and Chamakh were all summer signings and were all diabolical.

What makes no sense to me is people saying we should wait till summer to bring in players because it's a risk to bring them in now? So it makes sense to buy the same player later because he MIGHT not hit the ground running rather than at least there being a chance they'll be an asset this season?

I don't get the logic

posted on 31/1/14

Also. Should we no longer sign players in the last few days of summer? By the 'no time to bed in argument' pretty much all our recent signings have been risky and should've been put on hold till early the following summer...

There's always one monng that makes out any kind of disappointment in the club is a hatred of Wenger.

A majority of fans DONT want Wenger out, especially on here. In fact, on here, you're turned into some kind of hate figure if you do openly want him out. What a majority of fans DO want, is a change in the club's transfer philosophy. Something to bring it up to date with modern times and something we've been promised for a decade.

Wanting a positive change in the club doesn't necessarily mean wanting Wenger to be given his P45.

posted on 31/1/14

Exactly Alv. Most fans just want the club to maximise it's quality on the pitch which means spending a fair bit of our available funds rather than leaving them to silent Stan n co

Alvin, spot on mate.

It's one of the things I hate about the JA Arsenal board, just how tribalistic everything is, and how everything is in black and white, leaving no room for objective debate
