Dunno.......I've done it in training fackin about......knowing full well I wldnt connect.......
Do they feel with two feet going in.....more chance of getting summat on the ball.....or is it just a red mist thing.
I have people tackle me off the floor before. Nasty barstrds.
I have never gone into a tackle off the floor, one or two footed. It makes no sense to me. If I go to make a tackle the worse a I do is a full bodied slide tackle along the ground and only ever one footed, studs down.
I just think some people don't give a toss whether they are going to cause injury or not
Surely it just has to be a spurs of the moment thing? I don't think you'd premeditate going in 2 footed, or as you say, that implies that you have a complete disregard for the safety of others.
Maybe it's to do with the distance you need to travel? The standard slide tackle has a relatively limited range, especially when you compare it to a 2 footed lunge (more so if you've taken a run up!).
On another note, I couldn't leave a comment on this article without mentioning how much my girlfriend would love it if I had 2ft tackle
Jay... not sure bird would lov it anymore after the first test run
I also have to disagree on the other point... I personally thing almost all 2 footed tackles are premeditated...
I'm with you here. Just don't feel there'd be the same level of accuracy jumping in two footed, IMO it's designed to injure.
I've done it once in my career and that was minutes after my younger brother got chopped down. Essentially pure revenge on a bad tackle.
I don't remember ever actually going in 2 footed, but the only explanation for it being premeditated, would be that they are fully aware of the damage they will cause by doing it, otherwise there would be no reason.
I think it comes from looking to make the tackle with one foot but then as you do the motion havin the ball move and requiring the other foot to get involved
A bit like when you try to kick a ball that ends up being head height when it reaches you, resulting in a sort of sideways bicycle kick and you wondering where that agility suddenly came from

For some reason, the second part of that, gave me an image of a slightly overweight middle aged man trying to do some sort of sideways bicycle kick at the park with his kids while saying 'I've still got it'
You probably aren't any of those things, but you gave me a laugh this slow afternoon
It's basically a coward's tackle that is done so as not to lose face because the player knows he has been beaten to the ball.
It's either done because a player is desperately trying to make up for a mistake and is genuinely trying to get ball or it is done deliberately with intent to injure or protect themselves.
Imagine you are running after something and as you get closer you realise you are not going to make it. It's a basic human instinct to jump for it, whatever it is.

Not yet but give it another 15 years and I'll definitely be one of those dads
I've done it games before.. some referees will let you get away with it, some will get the cards out even if you win the ball.
For me it is usually towards the end of a game, because as I'm tiring, jumping 2 foot seems like a quicker option than sliding 2 feet. In addition to pressure from the way the game has been going and also the fact that I'm not a defender.
Well those are my excuses anyway.
I have tackled like it loads of times and there is nothing wrong with it.......................................unless you miss the ball
Grand you facking nutjob...
