Sadly I think you're right, JH. Liverpool will beat us easily.

Have you guys been playing any better under Mel?

Very early days in Mel's reign. Already an improvement in passing and pressing but mistakes cost us dearly in the derby on Wedmesday.

JH, we are well and truly in the shït and I've not seen a bigger pile of shït since I saw the performance of Lugano, Reid and Ridgewell against the Vïle and that was a load of shït defending.
If Señor Mel doesn't drop those three he will come under the same label of SHÏT as well.

I really hope Lugano plays tomorrow. SAS will have a field day. Quality defender in the past but his legs have gone and he's too old to try and adapt to a new league.

Lugano's like a hobbit on acid.

I'd love to go for a beer with him but I want him as far away from our team as possible.

First goal crucial.

I can't see you competing if we get it.

If you get it could be interesting.

We have defended a bit better of late but I am expecting a test tomorrow.

This could be a tricky one. I'm sure the home fans will be well up for it, but if we do get the first, could turn into a stroll.....

@BaggiesFacts: #WBA have won 4 of their last 6 PL games against Liverpool, losing the other 2. The last draw in this fixture was was back in 1984, 0-0 (A)

Can't argue with the fact WBA have had the better of us in recent seasons, Steve Clarke knew us too well from his time with us and we couldn't hit a barn door in any of the games.

Just hope that 4-1 win earlier in the season ended the jynx

Off the back of a horrible derby defeat, the players showed huge character to get something out of today's game.

We limited one of the best attack to rare glimpses and scraps and we made some real nice moves to get in behind the Pool backline ourselves.

I can see improvements in aspects of our game already and Mel's only been here 2 weeks.

This should give us confidence going into a massive game at Palace.

P.s Liverpool fans were amongst the quietest I've heard since we came back to the PL. Ran Everton close to worst. Expected more as they're usually lively.

It's a really good point JH, and well deserved from what I hear.

From an interested bystander (to the extent that I hope - but doubt - we are playing each other again next season:

By Premiership standards a very poor game in the first half - almost drove me to helping my wife sand down the banister rail. Almost.

Improved somewhat after half time thanks to the change in formation, intent and attitude of you Baggies.

Some observations:

Liverpool are extremely inconsistent and only occasionally look like a Champions League side. By his high standards, Suarez looks a bit flat - could he, I wonder, be starting to think about the World Cup already?

For the rest of the season; if you play like you did in the first half, you will almost certainly go down. If you play like you did in the second, you will almost certainly stay up.

Rogers critisises our pitch saying "terrible for a Premiership pitch". Tôsser ! Just making excuses by clutching at straws. I thought pitch looked great for February.
Great and maybe innvaluable point which I would have settled for at kick-off.
Both teams could have won it if it hadn't been for the keepers. Need to beat Tony Pukeless now

Another good point agants one of the top 7. That's eveyrone apart from City we have taken points from. Could prove vital.

Read Rodgers' comments and they are poor. Martinez had something similar to say. Not sure whats going on Scouseland but over here its been pising it down virtually everyday. I couldn't see that much of a problem and thought we managed to keep the the ball well enough. Maybe Liverpool like Everton aren't as good as they think they are. Thanks Kolo.

To be fair to them, Mel also mentioned it in his post match interview. He says it may even affect us in our new style later in the season.

Yeh, we up our game against the 'big boys'.

I'd rather lose to the top 7 and beat the teams around us though.

posted on 2/2/14

So your manager also thinks your pitch isn't very good

Still, I am sure you fans no better than professionals though, ay?

posted on 2/2/14

Two teams play on the same pitch. We managed to pass the ball well enough. Why couldn't Brendan's tika-taka wannabe's do the same? Because they weren't very good. That's why.

So Big Vic came on and changed the game again.

He is a sure fire starter in my opinion with Anelka/Vydra/Berahino/Sessegnon playing off him.

posted on 3/2/14

Indeed he did JH I seem to remember me and you backing him the other day.....

I would love to see Sinclair playing with him and Morgan with Sessegnon behind big Vic, that attack has pace, power and the skill to cause any PL defence problems

also I would have Brunt at lb, much better option then ridgewwll and Popov

Yeh I like the sound of that. Maybe even something like...

---------Yacob--Mulumbu--------
Sessegnon--Morrison--Thievey
----------------Anichebe------------
