200 mill

posted on 2/2/14

200 mill sounds aboutr right considering it will probably include the 100mil+ Learner has "loaned" the club and turnover/new TV deal money.

No idea why the hilarity. Football clubs are like players and antiques - only worth what some one is willing to payl

Small Heath sold for nearly 82mill.

And for everyone - How much do you think your club is worth?

BBC web site:

Aston Villa distance themselves from reports claiming owner Randy Lerner is looking to sell the club. It has been suggested that Lerner is looking to recoup a figure of around £200m for the club he bought in 2006 for £62.6m. The American has spent £250m on players and upgrading facilities.

But quoted in the Express and Star, chief executive Paul Falkner says: "I can categorically confirm Aston Villa Football Club has absolutely not been put up for sale and that Randy Lerner is not actively looking to sell the club."

Villa are not worth more than a 5p off per litre petrol coupon and a packet of maltesers

I have an old pair of flip-flops and an opened Pot Noodle I may be prepared to do a swap with for villa?

Apparently Lerner looking to just give away the naming rights like what f@t a55 Ashley did at Newcastle.

I think we'd all like him and his useless tea boy Faulkner out of the Club but it looks like we're stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately we'll never win anything or even get back into Europe whilst Lerner is still here. We've fallen so far in the last 3 years it'll take a massive investment to bring joy back to us fans and some pride back to the Club. Lambert doesn't seem to know what to do either.

Sell up Lerner, just go.

I ask again you smug dic k heads........ how much is your club worth?

Easy to take the pee saying 5p or you'd have to pay someone.

No answer eh? Just jibes?

posted on 3/2/14

OK we're sitting in 10th, rather than our 6th under MON. Is that very far?

I hope Lerner stays. Outside of the really rich owners, he's probably the best owner around. Look at the jokers running other clubs.

For the record I think you're right McP. Things aren't great but we have to rebuild slowly and surely after O'Neils spending madness followed by McTwats follow up. (yeah I know all sanctined by the owner). I actually think Houllier did it right and would have been good for us in the long run.

creeping apathy
We can only go on what someone last paid for our club; circa 80 million.
Whether it was worth it to CY [based upon subsequent events] is debatable.
In Vile's instance, speculation as it may be, what do you think it's worth?

posted on 4/2/14

Depends on who ya sell it to. A hard working honest business man or a corrupt politician who nicked it all. Some people will part with there money easier than others.

How much do I think AVFC is worth. Well I'm no real estate expert but with the land, infrastructure, TV money etc and ignoring the "loan" ..... 100Mill? But what do I know.

Think you agree with me then KP. Footy clubs are like antiques. Only worth what the buyer will pay and they may pay much more than what a club is worth in assets.
Have we almost had a sensible debate there?

Chronic - That's just a chronic answer but I expected nothing less.

Looks like Swansea are the latest club to sack the manager in a panic. Crazy!!! Laudrup is a good manager, got Swans their first series trophy, has them in the knock-out stage of the Europa Cup, still in the FA Cup, 12th in the PL, and all on a small squad with latest season's main scorer out long-time injured. Just had a look at their recent results; they haven't done badly in a tough sequence of matches, with the only loss to a club they might expect to beat was last week's against West Ham. They have the local Derby against Cardiff coming up on Saturday.

Totally, totally crazy!!! What on earth does the Swans owner want? Full marks to Lerner for backing Lambert over time. Whatever mistakes Lerner might have made in the past, he's not in the same league as the majority of the clowns running other clubs.

Spurs soon to feel the cruel wind that is overspending chasing "Champions" league soon I think Andy.
The Bale cash has been wasted.

if lloris goes we will just get someone else

laudrup is massively overated. not sure what the shock is, from the outside looking in they have been in relegation form since their cup win, and laudrup looks rather disinterested lately

swansea may just have saved their season, they were heading for the drop.

i like it when people say this. it makes them look stupid.

all last season all we got was "one man team" , "mid table without bale"

well, bale has gone, and we are still more or less where we have been for the last 3 or 4 years, so simple logic therefore dictates that at least some of the money must have been put to good use… or we would just be mid table

understand?

nope. but i will try and make this simple for you.

we have lots of players earning big money, they leave, so we don't pay them any more, but we have lots of players who come in on big money - what is the overall effect?

the answer is that we have more or less the same wage bill as we started with

posted on 5/2/14

what is the overall effect? Players who come in on big money then decide that they ought to be paid even more. Moral: make sure they're not being payed too much to start with.

Swansea? There are/were too many teams worse than them for them to go down. Sacking a manager just because the team is only 2 points above the drop, when in fact there are 8 other teams who would love to be in that situation, is crazy. Laudrop obviously thought that, for the sake of the club, now that they'd got into Europe for the first time in their history they ought to make the most of it. The owner thought everything should be put into the PL. I think Laudrup had the right idea; I think they could do Europe and still be reasonably certain of not going down.
