Gadsby was slagging off GSE during his takeover attempt in 2010, and, despite not having seen the books, he claims that thousands of tickets were being given away. If you listen between the 2:30 and 3 minute mark, you'll hear the famous 7-10k remark that Florists have taken as a Fact.

Gadsby is condemning this supposed level of giveaways, so presumably it didn't happen during his tenure, and he's only guessing that it was happening under GSE.

Still, it's kept countless Florists happy as they dribble onto their keyboards down at the day care centre.

Anyway, on topic, there is free and "free". Take the tickets given away by "unite". Unite pay to be linked with Derby. They have some sort of corporate package for which they pay. In exchange we give them some tickets which Unite can do what they like with. Unite wont pay face value but they will have paid. They give away those tickets "free" to new members who have to pay for membership. So again whilst the tickets havent been sold for face value money has changed hands.

It was the same with the mobile packages.

even the under 12 free tickets come with a full paying adult, club membership and of course the obligatory hot dog, drink and replica shirt all of which have to be paid for.

I used to get free tickets from Barclays all the time. Cost me for food. Cost Barclays £ millions in sponsorship.

Summary = there is no such thing as FREE

Woody is correct. We do give away free tickets. Not corporate related just plain gratis.
We've been doing it all season at selected games but can I get one, can I fck, because the allocation is always sold out within minutes of coming online.
The tickets for troops website is a great idea I just wish The Rams would let the forces have a few more.
I have been lucky enough to bag a brace for the under 21 game against Wales at the Ipro though. Thanks Derby.
