A lot of money.

Sadly for them they are a club steeped in shame about it.

And if they do get 4th and hold on to Suarez they will claim that it was down to Rodgers and the 12th man.

People pay too much attention to spending statistics, they completely ignore context.

Well that's because Hazard is ten times the player.

I would have Henderson, Gerrard and Barkley personally.

Barkley has everything in his locker.

Yes i do rate barkley. Think he's going to be top grade. United should get the cheque book out ASAP.

Dazza come on.

You know it, Kate Upton knows it, I know it....

It'll take £100 million for United or Everton to stand a chance of taking the PL off the Oil Rigs.

That may be, but your response to what I said is still irrelevant, and I still believe that people pay far too much attention to spending statistics.

Take Arsenal, for example. If you look at their net spend since 2004 you'd think that it was a miracle that they've remained in the top four all that time.

But it ignores that they were the best team in England in 2004 and in a far greater position of strength than the teams beneath them that have outspent them.

That's silly.

Arsenal's transfer record pre Ozil was around £16 million for Arshavin or Reyes.

They were always going to get swallowed up with the type of big time spending around them like on Berbatov, Robhino, Torres.

Three mistakes right there that their clubs were able to swallow and carry on spending.

It's not silly. And you've just listed transfers made by teams that are above Arsenal not below them. Once again you are failing to make relevant points to what I'm saying.

posted on 9/2/14

Bar, City, of course, who were at the time below Arsenal. But they are a different kettle of fish to Arsenal and not relevant to the point I'm making.

Dazza

In 2004 Arsenal were already punching way above their weight.

You can't ignore it when a team like United breaks the bank for Ferdinand and Rooney and then eases off their spending - those players are STILL at the club and are getting better.

United and Chelsea then blew them away in the transfer market to such an extent that they left them behind.

Put it this way - if Everton got a £250 million kitty every year for the next three years, we would take the title.

As long as City and Chelsea only added by £50 million each year.

probably not

For Chelsea it was 'easy'
For City it was harder
Then PSG and Monaco joined the party

With each added mega-billionaire owner it gets progressively more difficult as there are only so many top players to go around

If all clubs had owners like that then it wouldn't make any difference at all
