Who will win? Im going for a dream Brazil v Argentina final with...erm...Brazil winning...just.

Surprise package? I think England will either come home with 1 point or get as far as the semi's. Roy may surprise a few. Zero chance of winning it tho. If they can be classed as a surprise package then id say Italy.

Will Messi and Ronaldo silence their "can't do it at a World Cup" critics? I think they will both end up with 2-4 goals each but neither will storm it.

Teams you'll be backing? England of course but generally hoping for an open, attacking, unpredictable World Cup

I'm still not sure how Italy are going to do, you never write them off though.

I don't care much about World Cup as it has been boring after 2002 and 2006 was alright but World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012 were boring to say the least about them.
Teams I do want to see doing well are Iran and Ivory Coast due to Drogba!

Belgium "surprise package"? WTF? More fancied than most.

Winners? Argentina
Surprise package? The Swiss will show why they are seeded.
Cote d'Ivoire finally have a group they can get through, and it is a last chance for a few of their best. Can see them topping that group then beating the runners up in ours.

Biggest flops - Colmbia. Over rated by hipsters.

Messi will be a champion, Ronaldo will go home early.

Who will win? Brazil

Surprise package? Mexico

Think Messi has a better chance to shine than Ronaldo, simply because his team is in a group where they should do well, and generally Argentina do well in Latin America. Portugal are in a tough group that could be quite tight and have very few goals in it.

I think all the teams in groups E-H will struggle to win the tournament, mainly because the earlier you start in the tournament, the more days rest you are likely to have had if you progress far. Brazil start 3 days earlier than Argentina, 4 days before Germany, and actually play their 2nd game only 3 hours (5 days in!)after dark horses Belgium play their 1st! These extra days could be crucial in terms of rest/recovery.

Can't wait, as long as the stadiums are built and no mass murders leading up to the game.

1st group highlights are Spain v Holland, Uruguay v England, England v Italy, Italy v Uruguay and Germany v Portugal.

But I think some of the intriguing ties will be Iran v Nigeria and Columbia v Greece.

I think if we can get those scóuse <surfers>.....Rooney and Sturridge playing we have a chance. Would love to see Woy play

Hart

Jenkison, Jageilka, Jones, Baines

Stirling, Wilshere, Gerrard, OX

Rooney, Sturridge

Lot of youth and experience mixed......

I go for Germany and England final.....

Ozil to score a hat-trick and OX to score the winner in a thrilling 4-3 game......

I agree with you on Belgium, DJ.

And I think it was Alvin who said he thinks they're gonna' disappoint.

Italy will win it, Henrik.

The biggest flop of the tournament will be the Germans.

The Germans always get overhyped, especially their mentality as ruthless and efficient- completely outplayed by the Italians in 2012.

England will go out in the group after being beaten by Italy and Uruguay.

Costa Rica are no mugs either, England cannot just expect to turn up against them- I don't think Hodgson is the type to underestimate anyone though.

I think England may get 5pts though, beating Costa Rica and grinding out two draws.

They are bottlers, Henrik.

The possession football of Italians will tire England out in the heat. Uruguay's attack is phenomenal and have a high pressing game. England players can't cope with it, note the Chile friendly.

The most interesting talking point before the tournament will be who Spain take to the world cup

They have all these midfielders to choose from:

Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Cesc, Pedro, Alonso, Illaramendi, Isco, Jese, Benat, Suarez, Koke, Thiago, Martinez, Mata, Cazorla and Silva.

17 players that would probably at lease make the squad of every other nation. Who do you leave behind?

posted on 14/2/14

They should leave Mata.

Jese won't make it as he hasn't earned the right, although he seems quality. They play Koke in defence, as can Martinez at CB.

I'll be honest I've not enjoyed a World Cup for several years, but I've got a good feeling about this one.

Spain's midfield options are just ridiculous.

I think Chile could be a surprise package.
