Excellent 666, you've excelled once again.
from me

Although I am disgusted that you forgot to mention the stone cobbled streets around a Turf Moor, which trip you up

I've not mentioned Spart getting a batterying up there either, but as he's making his way back again on Saturday he's clearly not feeling negative about it.

I don't know if it's coincidence, but immediately following the visit of Notts Forest there seems to have been a dramatic upsurge in violent crime in Burnley

http://www.thisislancashire.co.uk/news/11033877.Knife_held_to_Burnley_woman___s_throat_in_terrifying_attack/

The cunning crimnal also had a plan B for his mobile phone theft - when the unfortunate lady refused to hand it over, he snatched it from her! You have to admire his quick-thinking.

A epidemic of rubber-necking seems likely if Mohammad Hussain, manager at the Kashmir Watan Food Store, in Abel Street, is representative of the general feeling:

“I always look over my shoulder when I am out, but maybe I will do it even more now.”

Happily the victim is unharmed and police are closing in on the attacker. They have already narrowed down the search to "a man of medium build wearing a dark coloured waterproof coat." We must hope and pray he doesn't take it off.

Travel safely, Rams fans, into the jungle.

I'm not sure if it's even possible to look over one's shoulder more often than 'always'

I'm scared.

666, I've got many a bad memory going to that ground. Just ask Mostyn. I can remember under George burley and the 3 amigos we had a player playing for us called manal he missed a sitter from a yard out. I think the game ended up 0-0 again I've been there that many times with 0-0 results. Regarding the article it's a shame there are not more burnley fans on here to read it.

Wouldn't cry if we got a 0-0 this Saturday Wassa. Didn't Luke Varney make his debut there when we lost 3-0? I thought he looked really good considering the scoreline, which shows what I know about football.

Now I remember why we backed Vidal in his "free 666" campaign. Good to see the guides back.

However, only from me just because Jim Bowen was born in Heswall (on the Wirral) raised in Clayton le Moors and educated in Accrington. Honestly, where did you get your facts from 666?

And dont give me that its only 9 miles from Clayton to Burnley coz that's like saying anyone born in Beeston is from Derby.

wassa - "it's a shame there are not more burnley fans" (period).
Small town, small club.

Proper name should be "Brumleye", which is a bit like Bullseye so probably where 666 got his dodgy facts about Jim Bowen from!

I can recall standing on the popside when we played them in the cup and the fog came in. Game abandoned with us winning!

Also remember Ralph Coates, what a comb over.

Probably the best-known Burnley figure in the field of entertainment is actor and gay rights activist Sir Ian McKellen who was born in the town in 1939.

But more interestingly (Sir Ian may be a fine actor but is a boring old "lovey", the Burnley "born" musician Alice Nutter is rumoured to be a reincarnation of a 17th century witch, also called Alice Nutter, who was hanged as part of the Pendle Witch trials, held a mere 7 miles north of Burnley in 1612.

Tiz said that many still practice the dark arts up them ways.

Be afraid, be very afraid!

I was at the fogged off game too Sheepthrills. Fans at the Ossie End kept cheering to fool the Normanton End into thinking we had scored! I seem to remember we won the replayed match by the same score. Didn't we have an away game at Newport abandoned around the same era? There was also the floodlight failure abandonment. Have there been any others? (Sorry wandering off topic 666)

Hector After us going To their place getting a 2-2 draw with a makeshift side as well if I remember. We also broke down in the mini bus on the way back to derby. Have a guess where we broke down? Right outside a pub and a fish shop. for those of you who've been there you will know how lucky we were to break down outside a fishy and a boozer.
Hector I was also in the pop side that day. We were made out to the Burnley fans who were situated in the ozzy end that we had scored cause it was that foggy they couldn't see

Vidal, I'm not sure if he made his debut there but it would be nice to see Derby win there.

Disaster for me about this Saturday. Was all set to go up with the two boys when Firstborn got invited to an effing Paintball birthday party I now have to ferry him to and from that instead of freezing my nuts off at the Moor.

1975 we hammered them 2 5 in a game which saw us zooming to the top of the league to be eventually crowned champions. Big Rog scored 4 I think. A repeat would be nice.

I can remember when your "Pitch" resembled a field which had entertained 5000 rutting Rams ploughing it up for a couple of years and it Bred the kind of "football" guaranteed to make you burn your Nasal Hairs off with a butane lighter on full flame.

Think Derby signed Leighton James from Burnley.

How dare you Silky,it may have been a ploughed field but the football was sublime.

There are conflicting reports on tinterwebs of where Pope-a-Like Jim Bowen was born; some have it that he hails from Padiham, Burnley, whilst others have it as Heswall, which seems most likely.

I am not responsible for the accuracy of the whole worldwide web, although perhaps it would be better if I were.

Silky Blue - its funny how people remember the awful BBG pitch and associate it with awful football when, in fact but against the odds, we played some superb football on it. You clearly don't remember it as well as you think!

According to his autobiography, it was Heswall. Mind you, he might have said that to sound posh!

Watnall - sublime or submud? Quote often you couldn't see the lime!
