so what on earth does Moyes have to lose?
====================================

after losing his marbles and dignity over the course of the season, the only thing left is his job

If he tampers with the top players, not only will you not improve, but they will feel the need to move on due to them not playing aswell as the poor results

Agreed, play Jones and Evans/Smalling at CB for remainder of season. If Rafael is injured give Varela or Janko a chance at right back, play Petrucci rather than Cleverley in midfield. Give Hernandez more games with Mata/Januzaj/Kagawa supplying the passes, he makes the best runs out of our strikers.

I just don't see the point of just playing who/how we have been all season so far. I think this would have been an opportunity for Zaha to have a go. We have nothing to lose now, and as for the comment about keeping the top players happy etc . . . I've not noticed any of them coming out of this season with anything to be particularly proud of. Rooney has signed his contract - - are there any others that we are desperate to hold on to really?? (apart perhaps for DDG)

My Lord you're right, what an incredibly well thought out and reasoned argument. Thank you for showing me the light.

For me last night was the turning point. I've tried to stick by him but that was an absolute shambles and IMO the worst performance and attitude I have seen from a Manchester United team in years.

Personally now I think he should go. Somebody like Rene I would like to see as caretaker manager and bring in a proper manager in the summer. If moyes is given a 100m to spend I will be absolutely furious.

Secondly for the remainder if he is to stay then no more smalling at all. Rafael or janko at rb. Fellaini over cleverly in midfield. Mata behind the strikers and simply play attacking football and just go for it.

FWSS86 - who would you play as your striker?

I don't disagree woith you but just wonder what the general consensus here about RVP/Rooney - I think to get the best out of Mata or Kagawa, one of RVP/Rooney should be benched (??) - we need top try something different surely??

posted on 26/2/14

Although I think RVP is the better player I would probably go for Rooney if we were to only play one up front. Otherwise

Januzaj. Mata. Kagawa
.......Rooney...RVP.........

Have mata and Kagawa interchanging and not stuck out on the left. A bit how silva and nasri link up

You are quite welcome, but it does seem to be a common theme with you.

If it's any consolation, I did spit my coffee all over the screen at your comment about Hernandez runs.

Can't open you tube at work.

Is it one showing one of the thousands of times where Hernandez miss timed his run and got caught offside?

Or an actual rare one where he got it right?

I agree. A lot on here seem to have written off Kagawa already - I'm undecided but feel that playing him in our present system just doesn't suit, and in fact, unless we change the system/formation, Mata will end up the same!! What a waste of money that would have been!! .......... and it ain't as if our wingers are that good is it??!!

No it's one of those rare times when our midfielders play the ball at the correct moment rather than checking back, causing a delay and Hernandez to be offside by the time the ball is played.

A good striker adapts to this. Hernandez clearly doesn't have the football savvy to do so.

RVP didn't have a problem last season.

I have to say, and I know I have said this on a number of occasions on here today, but watching Smalling and Valencia on that right-hand-side was just horrible

I know he is incredibly inconsistent but I would genuinely endure Nani and his frustrating performances than watch that again - at least he tries things!!

Appreciate smalling isn't a right back but that still shouldn't stop him passing a ball to a team mate or simply staying on his feet.
Around 3 times I saw him falling over, one if the times was comical when the ball was played to him and he just fell on his backside. It was like a comedy show last night watching him.

He is decent at centre back but that is about it. Decent.
His hopeless aimless long balls he constantly plays drive me mad. For me he has a lot of improvement and he is 24 now and still no signs of it

Hernandez doesn't have a problem scoring goals. I believe he has the highest chance conversion rate of any of our strikers.

Rooney's vision is not great though, watch and you could even see RVP get annoyed at this. Making runs that are not being seen. Rooney's usual form is to look for Valencia on the right and that is it.

I think Smalling is young enough, and possibly good enough to provide cover only, moving forward. Not at right back, but at centre half. I think that's partly the problem we have at United now - we have too many 'ok' players and that just doesn't cut the mustard at a club the size and stature of United. As I asked earlier, how many of the present squad would we be desperate to hang on to?

posted on 26/2/14

In all seriousness there are 4 players I would only really want to hang onto

DDG, rafael, jones and januzaj. Would be a little gutted to see RVP go although he is knocking on a bit and his attitude isn't the best this season

Its gotta be hard for any of your youngsters to become accomplished in one position when they're constantly being moved around and never getting a decent run in one spot

DDG, Januzaj, Mata maybe RVP. The rest could jog on.
