Don't know if Sanogo is the answer but today was like we played with 10 men. Could have took Giroud off and wouldn't have made any difference

Like I said sanogo is going to set the world alight but giroud will be invisible against Chelsea's defense so maybe it's worth trying possibly

Giroud offers nothing. Id prefer Sanogo or even really Campbell or Akpom from loan and try them.

I don't think Id stop as low as the taxibolloxrubber though

Sanogo holds the ball up very well. Yes he is raw in front of goal. But our strength lies in midfield, and there is no doubt that we look more fluent with him in the team. Our possession was only 41% today. Just awful. Its no surprise that Ozil, Santi et al play very well when someone strong and big can hold the ball up. Sanogo certainly gives us that.

Sanogo's technique looks very, very raw and he just doesn't look like him has a goal in him.

On the other hand, I think he's a better battler and more of an aerial presence than Giroud, as well as holding up the ball better.

To be honest, Bendtner would be my choice but clearly not going to happen now.

Giroud will start I'm sure.

Hobson's choice. Neither are good enough. Giroud disappears in the top games and Sanogo doesn't look like he's got a goal in him. He looked completely lost in the three games in which I have seen him play. Poldi had also disappointed this season wherever he has played.

Giroud will undoubtedly start but we know he will provide nothing against Terry and co

I wish theo was fit. You need pace against chelseas defence. Its their main weakness

If Giroud starts we have very little if not zero chance against Chelsea.

Sanogo started against Liverpool and we won. Pep said we were the best team in the world for the first 30 mins against them. No surprise Sanogo pushing them back.

Thats more important than goal threat. Possession is very important to us.

Giroud had a horrific game at Chelsea last season. Really was woeful. The problem is he won't exploit their weaknesses. He's not quick enough, nor is he technically good enough. Cahill and JT's main strength is in the air, which he again isn't good enough in to match it.

However I'm still hopeful of an Arsenal win

The irony is that we don't even have enough midfield to try and play a false number 9 anymore!

Giroud will get absolutely owned by Terry and Cahill

Good lord, Giroud was just so pathetc today. You can't get worse than that on a football pitch. The ball just kept bouncing off him and there was little desire to press and win it back. It's unforgiveable that we had these massive problems upfront and we bought an injured bench warmer from the Russian league. If that isn't self-harm, I don't know what is.

I'd play Sanogo. Each time he has played he has caused havoc. Probably Girouds most anonymous game of the season today.

posted on 16/3/14

I wouldn't say he has created havoc but maybe it's worth trying him against Chelsea who would not have played against him

Giroud was absent til which we actually needed him in the last 15, and he did tbf hold the ball up and win crucial fouls. He had NO-ONE near him for most the match.

yeah....we had just 41% today and won the game.

Are you serious? Even Wenger admitted we were p/ss poor and were lucky to get a result.

You give a quality team the sort of possession we did today and you will not get a result 95 times out of 100. Thankfully Spurs finishing belonged in those 5 games where you luck out.

I still can't believe that you defend Giroud with the most absurd excuses.

I know lets use the new tactic. Lets start with 10 men behind the ball and not play a striker at all. Thats sarcasm by the way!

No need to read the article or any replies, the simple answer is yes. Giroud offered us nothing and should have costed us the match. He couldnt even simply hold the ball up which should be bare minimum. There is absolutely no risk playing Sanogo against Chelsea, if we play Giroud he will 100% bottle it
