I think that the match being played at ibrox in front of mostly rangers fans will have an effect tbh.

I do too, a negative one.

Statistically the favourites are most likely to win.

That's why they're favourites

Reasons for being positive?

None that I can think of.

Poor manager, and coaching staff.

A fat, 30 something immobile striker.

A 35 year old makeshift centre back who is only in the team because he's pals with the manager.

Our best midfielder injured, and most creative player injured.

Ricky Foster.

United will get the ball down and play football

they'll love having a big park to play on

I agree with Ivan, I can see Ciftci of having a field day with Moshni

I personally think the first goal, as always, will be crucial. Obviously a 14-seconder like last year would be nice, but if get an early goal then I think the whole tie will play right into our hands.

As I've said a couple of times, I think you'll approach the game with a defensive mindset initially and look to contain us in the opening stages, easing yourself into the game as an attacking threat as it progresses. An early goal will kill that gameplan and you'll find a bit of panic and uncertainty in your team as to how to react - do you maintain the gameplan or do you start attacking? With the players we've got going forward if you give them space to exploit then that's exactly what they'll do.

If the game opens up, I'd say we have the creative players to hurt you whereas I don't necessarily see you having the creative players to hurt us.

However, on the flip side, if you get the first goal we might get frustrated as you close up the space that we need.

I think it might come down to what team has the most handsome manager

The Dons won the league cup at the weekend and they have wee handsome Deek in charge.

Coincidence? I don't think so

As you say, this game will pretty much define your season. There will be an expectancy and pressure on the players that very few of them have really experienced before.
--------------
same could be said for you. except we could already have two trophies in the bag by the time we meet so less season defining than in your case.

dundee utd will be massive favourites, it will be difficult for Rangers to match the pace and tempo that we haven't played at all season and face a team that wont just park the bus, as we have all season.

that said we have players like shiels, black and jig who have all tasted cup success.

dundee utd have a young inexperienced side who could easily bottle it, aberdeen were woefull on sunday, Rangers have showed more quality in glimpses of games this season and been booed off the park, suspect thats a reflection on the players not performing on the day due to the occasion rather than a gauge of spfl quality - the same can happen to dundee utd.

If i was to bet on the game i'd back United but Rangers will be more fired up and more than likely in the first 5 to 10 minutes let the likes of Gauld, Cifti and GMS know they are in a game.

Dundee United can only beat themselves imo but that's what we've done twice this season

I think untied will win but its far from a foregone conclusion

stats say that celtic should win the treble every year, but we don't.

I dont think it'll be a cake walk for Dundee United but I remember hearing stuff about how fired up Rangers would be to play them last year for the first time since their demotion, the fans boycott etc and on the day they were done up 3-0 in their biggest game of the season.

A few thing have changed since then, there are better players and I suspect that playing against a team who are more likely to have a go might make for a more open game however McCoist does love his punts up to Jon Daly and playing players out of position.

I suspect this might be the difference as long balls up to a target man are meat and drink for SPL defenders like Gunning.

On paper Rangers might just have the edge but McCoist in my opinion is Rangers biggest weakness. He plays players out of position and I dont think he even has a Plan B. Against Albion Rovers at Ibrox when Plan A didnt work he stood there with his arms folded and but for a debatable call by the referee we might not be talking about a Rangers Scottish Cup Semi Final tie.

With a better manager I would have made Rangers favourites.

As it is I think it'll be close perhaps slightly in favour of the Arabs

Game could go any way, it's a cup semi final and Rangers on their day are quite capable of winning.
