I've ran two heartfelt articles on here!!!
The consensus of opinion is that he's asking for too much and an extension of 3 years is pushing the envelope.
I agree his demands are a tad steep. But the reality is, (imo) his departure would mean the club would HAVE to sign 2 players to compensate his departure (such is his versatility) and he'd prove tricky & certainly expensive to(adequately) replace!
Sagna is not (by some distance) the player he was three years ago and is now 31.
To compare Sagna's influence (and performances) to Ramsay's is IMO somewhat naive. While the exact amount offered to him is unknown he has not played consistently well for some time and that seems to have been reflected in the contract offered to him.
That said my preference would be for him to stay but he knows he can earn much more (PSG, Monaco) and feel that he will go back to France.
IMO it's just pure logic. You gotta keep the future sweet. the best way to accommodate Sagna is give him a nice testimonial game payout LOL
I agree he is not the player he was and despite some good performances he has also had extensive periods out due to injury which will not improve with age.
Will be a loss but not as big as people think
Not much has been said? Theres a Sagna contract related article on here pretty much every 2/3 days
It might be around time sagna goes, 31 years old wants a big pay-check, plenty of talented right-backs in world football we can replace him with

We can probably sign a player who is no doubt a better right back then Sagna but theres no guarantee he'll gel with the rest of the defence naturally like Sagna has which could make a huge difference.
Look at our defence of a few years ago for example. Clichy Gallas Toure and Sagna. All brilliant defenders on their day and have all had great careers but they mever quite worked well as a unit
Well I have read only one or two....and none really expressed what I did...shock that Ramsey could be offered more

last i heard he is off to Inter Milan in the summer depending on if they qualify for europe, joining Vidic & probably Evra.

This is SO true (imo)!
And it bothers me, like the boil on my ar'se that's the size of a walnut, and STILL growing!

But that will be the cased whenever we get a new rightback, but the facts are he is 31, missed a lot of games in his time here and has had periods of inconsistency when fit.
Thank him for what he has done but we need to move on than being held to ransom by a player who for me is past his best

He's rumoured to be on the move this summer. The thing is, and it's maybe just me, but I don't get all the hype. He's not bad, but he's SO rash! I'm really not sold on the guy and certainly NOT at some of the reported figures I've been hearing of how much he'll cost to prize away from St James' Park!
^^^ what the 7-9m isnt much as thats what Roma are prepared to pay & most likely in installments too
lol
Serge Aurier who currently plays for Toulouse is having a good, solid season in France and is one of a few young fullbacks who are turning heads in Europe this season. He looks a prospect. So maybe he'd be decent? But of course, it'd be a big step-up from playing for a fair/decent French club, to playing for a top Champions League/Premier League club!
My ideal replacement (IF Sagna leaves) would be the marauding Pole, Ćukasz Piszczek from Dortmund. But the Germans would very likely fight to hold onto him and IF he were to be allowed to leave, (I'd imagine) he'd cost a lot of money!
Sebastian Jung, the Eintracht Frankfurt rightback is a player who has been rumoured to tickle Wenger's chaffinch, so maybe he's a realistic option?
We've been linked with Callum Chambers of Southampton recently. I like the very little I've seen of him but if true it probably means the end of Jenkinson

I'd imagine Newcastle dismissed that out of hand!
The figures rumoured to be in the bracket to tempt Newcastle to sell the over-zealous Frenchman are around double of those figures (you've mentioned).
We get linked to top players/prospects all the time.
The question is how many do we eventually sign???

Jenks NEEDS a season of 1st-team action to gauge IF he's at a level required for Arsenal (top class). I rate his athleticism, his attitude and he's quite a good tackler. Positionally he needs a lot of work (imo) and mentally I'm sceptical on the lad. He has a real propensity to lose the plot/go to pieces if or when he makes a mistake, that's a REAL weakness and something he'll need to shake off if he wants to be top-drawer!
There have been rumours this week that Jenkinson will be loaned to Newcastle next season. In my moist, humble opinion, if he's a 1st-teamer there for a season, potentially that could do him the world of good. But IF Sagna leaves, you'd imagine a replacement would be found and Jenks would be 'back-up' to the new rightback? I don't think Jenkinson is ready to be 1st choice at Arsenal, not at this stage of his career anyway...
^^^ no-ones gonna pay that tho, also I think Roma coach garcia managed at Lille & look how he has gotten the best outta Gervinho

The fullback position at Arsenal is SO important. Look at how many attacking moves start from the fullback positions, it's quite something.
IF Sagna does fly the nest and seek pastures new I don't think a 'prospect' coming in to replace the Bacman will suffice! It'd need to be a player of proven class.

That's a really decent point (about Garcia), but PSG are one of the clubs linked with the hatchet-merchant (Debuchy), so in that respect, 5 million quid isn't goin' to scare the Parisiens off, it's one less ivory-back-scratcher for the Chairman.
Jerome Boateng should be bought in
