A Simple Question...

I know exactly how you feel bud. I honestly don't know what the board are waiting for. Alarm bells should have been going off ages ago.

An embarrassing defeat to Bayern would be totally irrelevant IMO as nine times out of ten your squad would have suffered badly at the hands of this Bayern side even if you still had Fergie at the helm.

It's the poor defeats to lesser opposition that should really see off Moyes, particularly at home.

Would it take an embarrassing defeat to Bayern over two legs to make the board and the owners realise how inadequate Moyes is for this club?

No, it will take more than that

I can't wait for this nightmare to end and a dream scenario would be for Moyes to leave and Klopp to become tired of Bayern's domination and lured to the Old Trafford hot seat. We can all dream eh!
-------------------------
Your dream is a manager that gives up after just 2 years of "dominance"?

What if City or Chelsea dominate for 2 years and he bottles it?

Ji. Probably could of worded it better in my O.P.

Klopp has gone toe to toe with Bayern for a good few years now and to have won 2 league titles in that period is quite some feat considering the might of Bayern compared to Dortmund.

I would imagine a scenario where it is not Klopp giving up at Dortmund, but it is United doing everything in their power to tempt Klopp. There is an exciting project in which he can mould this side in his own image and take us on the up again. It wouldn't be a case of Klopp doing a bottle job at Dortmund, instead realising he has taken them as far as he can and has been won over by United's attempts to secure his services.

I agree that it would be harsh to sack him on the basis of losing to Bayern but imagine we lose say 9-0 on aggregate which could happen. Would that once again show he has weakened us because in seasons past, even though we are underdogs, we would never get beaten that much.

As I said in my article, I can forsee one or two more defeats in the league this season and if that is to happen he has quite simply got to go. He is on borrowed time already. I think Everton and Southampton away are potential losses and we have Newcastle away as well.

Moyes has already lost 1/3 of our league matches and you don't need me to remind you that success rate is way below what we expect here.

I also forgot to add that at Dortmund, long term can he sustain long term success when several of his players want to leave for their CLOSEST rivals?!?! I don't think so.

What he does do is replace well I will give him that, but at United, he won't be faced with the same dilemmas he encountered at Dortmund in which it is hard for him to convince his key players to stay. At United he would have the luxury of being at a club where the majority of his players would want to remain and not want to leave for our main rivals.

Klopp would be revolutionary for us IMO. I'd love to see him going toe to toe with Mou, Pel and Rodgers, three very good managers who have ten times the ability of Moyes. Klopp is that calibre of manager and we will not be a force again until we hire a coach of this class.

For some reason, I think the game away to Everton could singnal what happens to Moyes's long term future with us. Lose home and away at his old stomping ground and with luck, he'll decide to jump ship before pushed.

Dream scenario right now, is having the players show heart and fight.
Baffled by what looks like a lack of confidence, even though Moyes says different.
The squad needs an overhaul no matter whose in charge.
I do believe Moyes is a good man manager, he is highly respected. But the slide can't continue.
Say we're not in Europe next term. Fine.
Maybe this humbling season will be a catalyst and reignite the fire.
For me then, there's no excuses for not challenging for the Title. If by Xmas we are off pace, then the trigger can be pulled.
Obviously love it if he got it right, and I know Most of us would. Think of the money we'd save, not having to go for a World a Class Manager. But if they had to, UTD would break tradition and Spend their way out of it, I mean the likes we ain't seen in One Window.
So as a Club, I'm not concerned for the Future.
But right now is upsetting and embarrassing.
But I can't begrudge anyone's bad feeling towards Moyes cos, well, he chose Fellani, Steve Round, letting Mulestien go, Zaha WTF!? Mata/ Kagawa play where?
From Champions to 7th and not even close.
Just show some fight.

The 7-0 hammering of Barca, last season, gives everyone a get out if jail free card if they get battered by Bayern.

I really can't see Moyes getting sacked, this season. Which, even though I'm for giving him another season (well, half a season), is a strange situation... If you are failing, you should feel big pressure, not just kick back and wait for next season.

I think he feels it, he knows we can't be in this position next term. It's amazing that even now, I couldn't tell you what he's trying to do.
I don't even look at his time at Everton, cos there's no way he's employing those negative tactics on us.
So how can our attack become so so slow and lack creativeness? Where's our marauding mids and FBs?
Why does it look like they don't know how to kick and control a ball?
Very very confusing.

Ji I think you are one of the best posters on the site and always back up your opinions with intelligent reasoning. I can understand why you feel that way but I'm past the point with Moyes. I think he has majorly failed this season.

I'd say at the beginning of the season many fans lowered their usual expectation of a title challenge to a top 4 finish, a good showing in the CL and potentially a FA or League Cup win.

He has done well in the CL bar Olympiakos away, but with this current squad which he has added to, seventh is utter failure there is no getting away from that.

Compare it to Rodgers at Liverpool last season, a season in which he guided them to seventh. He was given the benefit of the doubt because you could see clear as day the changes he was putting in place and despite some poor results in the league, Liverpool were transforming themselves into a more attack minded and possession based team. Even when they lost games, they played much much better than what we have this season.

Moyes has so far failed to implement an attacking style since he has been here and there is little to no evidence to suggest he ever will.

Stringer. Completely agree. It is mind boggling.

With the players at our disposal we can play good football but we look as if we don't want to

For the life of me in a results oriented business, I cannot see why people do not want to use results to judge this man.

He has failed at Utd, he cannot hack it at this level and must be sacked.

posted on 27/3/14

I'll give him a chance purely because I think the change from SAF is just completly unprecedented and it is impossible to know if things would have been different under, say, Klopp.

People point to Martinez taking over and having an instant impact... But it's just not a comparison.... 26 years if unparalleled success and total control by one man. Tough act to follow.

posted on 27/3/14

Ji it was a tough ask to follow no doubt about that, but even still, he hasn't produced enough to convince me and many others I'm afraid.

I don't think any manager bar Mourinho would have us in the title race ATM but you can have a logical guess and say that someone like Klopp would have us in and around the top four.

I could take being 7th if there were clear signs in improvement of playing style but if anything it has got worse.

I'm with MUDD on this one. I think if Moyes is allowed to continue we could take years to repair the damage he has inflicted.

Mate, do you know why we are not in the title race. It's these games at OT

West Brom
Newcastle
Everton
Spurs
Southampton
Fulham

Surely a decent manager would have taken more than 2 points from those games

I don't really see long term damage being done.... People cry about him spending money... But his targets have been good... Fabregas, Herrera... Players we need.

He might not work out for us, but he is no mug and will bring in good players.

Fellaini was clearly his last choice and Woodward should have done better... and Mata is a good purchase in the long term.
