Don't understand the Liverpool hate.

You wouldn't understand because you're an Arsenal fan. Arsenal fans and Liverpool fans are the most odious of the lot.

As a United fan I'd even prefer City to win the PL over Arsenal because their fans are fairly tolerable

I wouldn't put ALL LFC and Arsenal fans into the same bracket, I know some are fine, I'm just giving my opinion based on my perception of the majority

I like the way Liverpool play and think Suarez is the best player in the league.

I don't like the majority of pool fans on here on in the normal world.

What annoyed me is you can never discuss football in a heated way without them losing an argument saying...so how may European cups do you have...?

That's why....

Blame the AKBs for this, there an embarrassment to proper arsenal fans

ok dealing with insufferable fans is bad but what I'm getting at is the bigger picture. Them, as in the way Liverpool as a club are going about their business is a good thing. Far, far better for football than an oil toy just buying success/progression.

It's nothing to do with the fact it's Liverpool. It could be Tottenham, Stoke, Barnsley or Accrington Stanley FFS. What I'm saying is individual rivalries aside they're doing things the right way and it would be for the benefit of Arsenal and maybe even United to take a look at what the Mousers are doing and then take a cold hard look back at themselves.

The reason I'd genuinely back them is because if they actually do go on and win, it's bonerfide proof that success can still be earned rather than bought in the Premier League - a thought that IMO is in danger of being forgotten.

Under Rogers, which I would say this current side is the 'era' of they have been far more sensible.

I certainly wouldn't say they've just thrown money at their team and hoped for the best.

I'd say they've identified a direction, a style and fully gone for it under Rogers. The previous comedy spending has little to do with how well they're doing this season as most of the expensive flops have already moved on...

A proper fan if you want the club to progress not just stagnate - that wouldn't bother casual fans though.

Yeah we've still managed to spend a bit in the last 3 years and BR has signed a few players who are raising eyebrows now like Aspas.

But what we've managed to do well is reduce our wage bill by a good chunk, we were a top heavy squad of high earners who were offering little, players like Downing, Carroll, Adam etc all were on a high wage but were not or would not have contributed much to the first team. A player like Aspas has offered little but his wage would be allot less then Carroll's for example.

hopefully with the wage will lowered and contracts being designed to reward contribution we will have the ability to try get a few cl standard players in and we can afford to match plenty of clubs in terms of wages as we've freed them up over the past few seasons.

you can look at players like Aspas, Chissoko, Alberto, Moses etc and say yes they were poor signings but some of them have contributed to the league campagin like chissoko and Kolo for example, still not the quality we need but they came in and did a job, Aspas and Alberto would probably have played more had we not been knocked out of the 2 cups in the earlier rounds.

Jaws. Fair enough in some ways on their spending, how about under Rodgers alone? Either way I still feel they're a very different animal to an oil club. Their spending under Rogers has been decent and wages wise they've kept things sensible.

Would you agree that on field they've set an excellent example?

Belief, style of play etc they're very progressive. They've also bought excellently recently in terms of buying what they need and also adapting their squad to fit it's best players. Not much of this square pegs in round holes business that is so prevalent at Arsenal and United in particular.

Criticise it if you really feel the urge to belittle their achievement, but an average net spend of roughly £30m to lift the side from beyond the European slots into contention for the PL title does not sound too outrageous for a club of their stature.

Sakho who cost 18 million has played his part this year and woudl have played more but for injuries, I'd not include him in a list of bad buys as he will be a big part of the first team for several years to come, I think most of us see Sakho as the main man in the coming years and so does Rodgers who would spend 18 million on him if he didn;t have big plans for him.

Alberto is a bit of a conundrum as he's actually looked decent when he's played and he's young too so I can see him either goign on loan next season or maybe doing more for the 1st team, still it was allot to spend on a young lad who hasn't contributed much.

Aspas though will be gone and I feel sorry for him, he's never going to get in ahead of Suarez or Studge and we've not really needed a third striker this season. But it was summed up on Sunday when Rodgers brought on Moses ahead of him, if Moses is getting on ahead of you that says more then enough.

(He's saying net spend per season and I agree with him)
