its pretty laughable how so many spurs fans seem to see building the stadium as a simple job, 5 mins here, 5 mins there, few mill here, few mill there, and its done.

its a big project people, its not a made of lego.

This season we have had to make significant changes, both in respect of coaching and playing staff and yet we are currently only two points less than last season's tally

We?
2 points LESS?
Oh OK.

"No one makes plans based on constant participation in the CL, except Leeds and look what happened there."

ENIC are not idiots.

Merely pondering if X% of the total cost (starting or other) is contingent on some CL money coming in (X can be closer to 0 than to 100 ) .

Then surely they wouldn't leave a project like this to chance

"Then surely they wouldn't leave a project like this to chance"

Hence the "X can be closer to zero" bit (not wholly dependent on it, but it may be projected money for some of the cost) .

With Man Utd having a bit of a wobble, will the Glazers go like the Poool owners did (granted they were a lightweight imitation) , or will they pay it all off from an ongoing virtuous circle.

No idea

I'd suggest the project is 0% dependent on CL income or else we'd never get the funding.

The RDBD (demoted to supporting the team managed by Pep Guardiola) (U1062)

Yeh, I can understand that.

And I think the influx of new players has created a perception that Spurs have strengthened, where as you really didn't spend a lot last year at all.

I think there's room for improvement, but I don't think you're far off of where you can possibly expect to be, barring an exceptional performance!

We expect the exceptional

"And I think the influx of new players has created a perception that Spurs have strengthened"

There is more depth across the squad.
But some positions (LB, CB) are very fragile.
And playing like 11 strangers + stupid managers doesn't help, regardless of who is in your squad.

Getting top 5 regularly, and similarly taking a CL slot down to the last game of the PL season, is fair improvement. Whether more money or a much better manager than before is all that is missing, time will tell.
