Kroos, Lahm and Gotze are just cloggers. Should be able to control the midfield.

lets cut the BS.

there is no way we are gonna control any part of the game.
the game in Munich will be a carbon copy of the game at OT, Bayern will have all of the possession and we will have to try and hit on the break or work something for a set piece.

don't think that is such a strong midfield as it appears on paper, attack wise yes but holding and control, i think we can match them with the right selection.
carrick---------------------darren

kagawa
this should do it.

I dont think the personel bayern put out in midfield is entirely important. Its more how they set out positioning wise. They focus their play on making it easy to pass the ball to each other and for a player to always have movement whereas we almost do the complete opposite hence why we wont control the midfield. I think even if we had kroos and carrick in midfield, theyd still outpass us because thats their philosophy. Ours is counterattack...sort of

the counter attack is what i don't trust for today, valencia and welbeck don't know how to punish people, they just don't have it

Valencia is actually very poor. Im surprised no one would rather play nani. This myth that valencia is a much better defensively simply isnt true. A lot of the time valencia gets caught ball watching and doesnt follow his man. Id rather a rusty nani who may win us the game out of nothing

Man utd went to Bayer Leverkusen and won 5-0 away. Man utd actually could have been 3-0 up at old trafford if wellbeck 1st goal counted and he took his sitter agains Bayern Munich. Man city won there, Arsenal drew so we shouldn't fear them as they are missing there main midfielder.

Every dog has his day Bats, I just hope it's Moyes' tonight. Slim I know, miniscuke even. But it has been our home form that has let us down this season. MOyes seems to relish the away games where he can defend for his life then hit on the break. This can be put down to the fact Moyes was a defender in his playing days, as was Phil Neville and Steve Round, our 3 main coaches.

Tonight's match could be the perfect footballing masterclass.

Looking at Bayern this year, compared to last year, doesn't it make you question Pep's credentials to be a football genius? They looked to me like a below par Barcelona without Messi. Still think you have an uphill struggle, but in the first leg the Pep attack looked cr ap, and the Moyes defence looked ok.

Also doesn't it make you question whether the Budesliga is so much better than the prem?

I thought the same Kami. It was passing for passings sake and possession for possessions sake with not a lot of true penetration or threat on goal. I would be more concerned if Bayern's attackers and midfielders had licence to 'shoot on site' as they have some brilliant distance shooters.

exactly my point, even with bastian in midfield and all their possesion they could hardly carve out a chance, i think a trio of carrick, darren and shinji can hold their own against a depleted bayern midfield.

Yeah, 'control the midfield' is a ridiculous notion. Never going to happen.

Who do we want to play in the semi final?

posted on 9/4/14

We went to Bayer Leverkusen and wiped the floor with them.

posted on 9/4/14

This is football, we can have a better game than bayern, i can't believe how some people just throw up their arms in despair before the ball is even passed, they are depleted, we stand a chance, we should take it instead of going to stand back scared like little girls. fortune favors the brave.

posted on 9/4/14

I think they had an off day at OT.

But they still dominated the possession and the game. Granted we had some good chances, but we were at home and we are Man United.

posted on 9/4/14

Just because bayern didn't win doesn't mean they had an off day.
We defended superbly. I thought they played very well and passed the ball around superbly they just couldn't find a way through due to our superb defending rather than them playing poorly.
If we defend like that again tonight we can get a result, it is no way beyond us especially when they have 3 good players out
