Yeah but ttliv... their players are tired

Playing less games is absolutely an advantage - honestly don't see how anyone could argue Spurs travelling to all corners of Europe has not been a challenge for them.
But like someone above said, it's almost a catch 22.
If Liverpool HAD been in the Champs League, perhaps (almost certainly imo) they would have brought more numbers into their squad.
Think BR got it spot on, all things considered.
Can't you just enjoy being top of the league?

Games missed by first team players due to injury:
Arsenal;127
Liverpool 107
Man City 77
Chelsea 48
Complaining by Chelsea and City fans is a joke
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting stat.
Also, how come teams that aren't in European competition don't usually win the league?

No, because we have Chelsea, City , spurs and arsenal fans all over our board telling us how it won't last once we're in the CL next year.
Chris H (My namesake ) I agree. If we had Champions league football we'd have more money and a bigger squad, better able to cope with more game time. There's a reason Rogers whittled down the squad the past couple of years
You are a good team, great team at times but it is an advantage not being in Europe.
You have one game a week, concentrate on that, play it, then a full week to prepare for the following league game. Whereas those in Europe have a league game, fly half way across Europe play that, come back and have one or two days prep before the next match.
Injuries aside, players have less time to focus on the next match and fitness levels suffer. There is also the fact where Livepool are able to field a consistent 11 every week, those that play in Europe chop and change their team every game.
Not being in Europe is not the reason Liverpool are top of the league but it has benefited them this season.

When have we complained?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not you specifically, I have seen a few City fans complain that they've been hard done by injuries and that Liverpool have got off lightly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not seen anyone whinge on here,we've been pretty fortunate so far with injuries. Whenever Kompany or Aguerp have had their customary pulls/ strains we've coped pretty well
I believe that in the PL era nobody's won the title without finishing second the year before (may be wrong).
...............................
Arsenal have certainly done it and I'm sure Utd did when we finished above them.
I do believe not having mid-week football does help, it's diffcult to sustain a push on both fronts, very few sides in our league have done it in the past. It is also easier to prepare for a league game having a full week to do so.
That said I don't believe, as some would have you think that we'd be nowhere near the top teams if we were in Europe now. We might struggle, not to the extent though that we'd be well back in mid-table.
That no team since the bluenoses back in 85 has won the title having finished 7th the year before, is testament itself to how diffcult it is. Europe or no Europe.
Not playing in Europe has given you an advantage this year no question.
But its not a decisive advantage you also need players capable of winning enough games.
Otherwise Southampton, Stoke, Fulham etc.. would all be challanging for the title.

How is playing less games not an advantage?
It isn't unfair. It's circumstantial.

And?
You can't tell me that if you win your first title in 24 years it will be in any way diminished by what other fans say.
"
I don't think any of us is disputing that, my issue is with rival fans not admitting their advantage of being better placed to buy better and more players with the CL advantage. "
Indeed, hence the rest of my comment
Put is this way, as was said on another thread by Jolly Roger, Rogers complained about the number of games last year with you competing in Europa. You finished 7th with pretty much the same group of players. It is a disadvantage if you don't gave a squad big enough to cope with trying to win, not just compete, in Europe and domestically.

I don't doubt that we've had an advantage, especially in match preparation time, but people are acting as if we've moved from 7th to first because we don't have the occasional midweek game. Also due to injuries we rarely field the same 11 really, particularly with our back 4 this season
the thing i like is that BR has us playing several different formations, so can quickly change things during a match. I think that would help even if we had little preparation for games

Maybe, just maybe, it was down to the fact that it was BRs first season. And maybe, those players have all improved and have now 'clicked' into BRs way of playing....
Playing less games may well be an advantage but it's not as bigger advantage as being in the CL.
