He's very very good yet overrated at the same time.
"he's not that good and neither are city so until he inspires a league win"
He already has done that. We wouldn't have won the league had he not ran the show and scored when we beat Newcastle away (the year they were very good).
I'd have silva before yaya
"however simply put.... he's not that good and neither are city so until he inspires a league win and a cl run at city.... who should take notice?"
Is that what it took for Real to dish out a world record transfer fee for Gareth Bale
Bale inspired Spurs to PL success relative to what the club is realistically capable of at the moment, as well as a CL run.
Most would have thought Spurs should have achieved CL football more than once...
If anything being African has helped. For some reason, kids these days love these big, black players such as Drogba, Emenike. Not that they're not amazing players, but there's this hyoe about them that's been introduced in recent years. I guarantee if he was English, people who be calling him clumsy due to his physical nature and his unnatural dribbling
Why? Look at our net transfer spend, our wage spend and our stadium capacity. Money drives football these days, and we're not in the top 4 financially...
Like Melton said he's already inspired us to the league, He is also big game player just ask United fans.
I do see where Yaya is coming from a bit, Because i think Drogba never truly got the respect he deserved.
Drogba was the complete striker for me better than anything Europe has produced in recent years.
"hes abit lazy at times"
He is. To be fair to him though, he's a box to box midfielder in a two man midfield that is regularly up against three.
He's a great player, but forwards who score goals are the players throughout history who get the bulk of the limelight.
It's always been this way.
What like maradona and zidane?
No he isn't. Stop being stupid Yaya.
Fernandinho isn't actually far off Yaya's level.
Marcelinho,
They are slightly different though. Fernandinho is better defensively, yaya better offensively. I get your point though.
He's talking rubbish amongst football fans i believe. However I think an African would struggle to have the celebrity status that Ronny has. I teach in Middle East, kids come in with Ronaldo hair cuts. The girls (if allowed) have pictures of Ronaldo. Why e wants to chase that kinda of stardom I have no idea!!
I don't know about african struggling for that celebrity status, has there been an African footballer as good as Ronnie?
The first dance I learned was Roger Milla's now tell me African's aren't big stars!
Is he right?

Absolutely... African players are defo under appreciated. If any English lad did what Toure has done this season, he'd be Footballer of the year... NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
The only player on per with Toure this season has been Suarez.
I think he and Toure should share the 2 main FOTY awards this year. Especially if City sneak in and snatch the title.
And by the way its important to note that Toure is pointing his dissatisfaction at the media not the fans, whom he knows appreciate good players when they see them!!
I don't think it's anything to do with being African.
I think it's his lazy kind of style. Players of his ilk are never really appreciated as much as all action types.
I love him, awesome footballer, but obviously he isn't going to be considered like a Messi or Ronaldo because attacking players always get all the glory.
Drogba has a great rep around the world, striker, same with George Weah.
"Why? Look at our net transfer spend, our wage spend and our stadium capacity."
Spurs and net spend zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Your actual squad is worth a similar amount to both Liverpool and Arsenal's yet your performance this season has been far below both of those.
I think it's a bit daft to say Drogba wasn't appreciated because he wasn't given World Player of the Year. To say he was better than Henry, Ronaldinho and Messi at the relevant times is a bit silly really.
Wonderful, powerful player, but never really in the same league. Much the same with Eto'o tbh, and Yaya.
To say you are under-rated because you don't win the top awards is daft. Only 1 player every year can win it. And quite frankly, he isn't the best player in the world.
Chip on shoulder reverse racism. Toure is a fantastic footballer and has received acclaim throughout the football world. What does he expect? unadulterated idolatry? Talk about throwing a hissy fit.
To be fair since none of us are black professional football players I don't think we're in a position to make comments that are anything other than pure opinion or guesswork...
